Whitby Curling Club

Whitby Curling Club House of Hospitality! The interest in the sport of curling has been growing by leaps and bounds over the past few years.

With the exposure through the Scott Tournament of Hearts, Brier and the Olympics, more and more people want to try out the game. The Whitby Curling Club rents out available ice to groups or individuals wanting to learn the game. We have certified instructors to help you learn how to slide and to teach you the rules of the game. If you are interested in learning more about how you can bring a group

into the club or if you are just curious on trying the sport then contact us at the Whitby Curling Club. We also cater to office or staff meetings that want to incorporate Team Building Skills. This unique way of holding a business meetings or training seminars will definately be one that will be talked about around the water cooler the next day. We provide you with a meeting room, coffee, tea and a light snack, and curling instructions. It is with deep gratitude that we celebrate the remarkable life of Don Sutton, who passed away at the age of 103. Don lived a life with laughter, friendship, family, and community, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to be felt for generations.
A long time member of the Whitby Curling Club, Don was one of the club’s great characters. Whether in the lounge sharing stories, offering perfectly timed words of wisdom, or out on the ice delivering another brilliant shot, Don had a way of making everyone around him feel welcome. He was funny, quick-witted, and always seemed to know exactly the right advice to give at exactly the right moment.
Curling was one of Don’s great passions, and he was a fierce competitor on the ice, respected by teammates and opponents alike.
Off the ice, he built friendships that lasted decades and helped shape the spirit and community of the club he loved so dearly.
Don’s greatest pride was his family. He raised a family whose roots and contributions became a huge part of the Whitby Curling Club, and continues with his grandson Nathan at Oshawa Curling Club.
Perhaps what people will remember most about Don was the joy he found in life’s everyday moments. He appreciated good company, a good laugh, and the simple pleasure of being surrounded by people he cared about. His positivity, warmth, and sense of humour never faded.
His stories, laughter, and spirit will live on in every game played, every conversation shared around the club, and every piece of advice passed from one generation to the next.
Our condolences to his family and friends.

Usually we celebrate the end of curling season reflecting on all the events that happened on the ice.
This year the Whitby Curling Club is celebrating our manager, Karen, saying “RIGHT OFF !” to cancer and Ringing That Bell as she finished her treatments. Her fight and determination over the season inspired our whole curling community and she really showed the power of positivity.
