We're thrilled to announce that the has been selected as the host of the 2028 Saskatchewan Summer Games!

With Weyburn’s strong event-hosting background, excellent facilities, and engaged volunteer base, we anticipate an exceptional, athlete-centred event that will spark athlete development across the province.

We also celebrate how hosting the Saskatchewan Games aligns with Weyburn’s goals for economic diversification, infrastructure investment, and tourism growth, and we look forward to working together to deliver community legacies that will be felt for decades to come.

We are thrilled to share that has been selected to host the 2028 Sask Games! 🏅✨ Today’s official announcement marks the beginning of an exciting journey that will showcase our community spirit, hospitality, and vibrant local culture to athletes and visitors from across the province.

This is more than just a sporting event, it’s a celebration of Weyburn’s energy, teamwork, and pride. The Games will bring incredible opportunities for tourism, local businesses, and community growth, leaving a lasting legacy for years to come.

We’re proud to have been part of today’s announcement and can’t wait to welcome Saskatchewan to Weyburn in 2028! 🧡🩵🩵

The Weyburn Rowing Club hosted a Come and Try event on August 1st and 2nd, providing individuals with the opportunity to experience the sport both on and off the water, made possible through community grants. The event drew a sizable attendance from Weyburn, Estevan, Regina, and Saskatoon. A variety of equipment was available for participants to try, including an oarboard, erg machines, a single coastal boat, and a double coastal boat. Participants were able to test one or all of the equipment options. Sheila Leach noted that the event was well-attended by individuals eager to learn more about the sport. Leach observed that participants consistently disembarked from the water with smiles on their faces. The club would like to extend its gratitude to Nickle Lake Regional Park for allowing them to be part of the Nickle Lake Days and to the community for providing grants. The club also appreciates and thanks the individuals from Regina and Saskatoon who assisted with coaching for the day.

We had a fun time at Nickle Lake with the free Learn to Row. Our coaches worked with individuals teaching individuals the proper technique on a rowing machine, explaining the parts of the boat, and practicing the techniques in a boat.
