🍪🏁 BACK TO SCHOOL RACING + COOKIES = A PRETTY SOLID WEEKEND PLAN 🏁🍪

Because apparently fast cars weren’t enough… so we added cookies. 😂

This weekend at Edmonton International Raceway, Fast Track Racing is giving out special Fast Track Racing cookies to the kids — and yes, the teachers too.

Because if anyone has earned a cookie in September, it’s probably the teachers. 😅

🏁 WHY RACING MATTERS 🏁

People see the car.

They see the helmet, the lap times, the trophies, the wins, the tough weekends and the checkered flags.

But as his mom, I see everything racing has built in the kid behind the wheel.

I’ve watched racing give Paxton confidencewhen he needed to believe in himself.

I’ve watched it give him purpose — something to work toward, something to learn from, and something that keeps pushing him to be better.

It has given him a place where he belongs.

A team.
Friends.
Mentors.
People who celebrate the good days with him and help pick up the pieces on the hard ones.

And maybe most importantly, racing has given him a community.

A whole group of people who have shown up, cheered him on, shared his story, helped in the pits, offered advice, celebrated his successes and reminded him to keep going when things didn’t go his way.

Racing is so much more than driving a car around a track.

It has helped shape the young man Paxton is becoming.

And that’s why this Athlete of the Year competition means something different to me.

A vote isn’t only a vote for the racer.

It’s a vote for the kid racing helped shape. 💙🏁

🏁 HOW WE FINISHED… AND HOW WE SOMEHOW ENDED UP WITH EXTRA CAR PARTS 🏁

Well… this weekend was one of those race weekends. 😅

You know things are getting interesting when your driver has to come into the pits because a piece of a competitor’s car has somehow made its way into his driving pit and it’s no longer safe to keep driving.

Because apparently we’re collecting souvenirs now. 😂🏎️

Not exactly the kind of “parts delivery” we had in mind.

It was frustrating. It messed with the flow of the weekend. And it was definitely one of those moments where you just kind of look around and think:

“Seriously?”

But that’s racing.

Sometimes you’re battling for position.
Sometimes you’re battling the setup.
And apparently sometimes you’re battling random car parts that have decided they live with you now. 😆

Even with the frustration, Paxton kept his head in it, kept learning, and kept pushing.

Not every weekend is going to be pretty, and not every race is going to go the way you planned. But honestly we are OVER all of them not going to plan.

But you regroup.

Because one frustrating weekend doesn’t change the goal.
