The Westmount Rugby Club was founded in 1876 and so, this year we are celebrating its 150th anniversary. We are the oldest independent rugby club in North America, with only McGill and Harvard who predate our foundation (by two years, 1874). We have been instrumental in the formation of both Rugby Canada and Rugby Quebec and have been the parent club of several teams who still play in the LPR today.
We are immensely proud of our heritage and of our historic place in the growth of our magnificent sport in this province. We are also very aware of our place as part of a community, a brotherhood and sisterhood of rugby players, whose passion for the game and commitment to their clubs is what gives the sport its unique and extraordinary flavour.
With this in mind, we hope to mark this milestone with you all by bringing these clubs and this community together for a festival of rugby on the 22nd of August at Westmount Park. We hope not only to celebrate the 150th anniversary, but also to simply celebrate the sport of rugby and the players and clubs that make it what it is today.
Date: 22nd August, 2026
Location: Westmount Park, Westmount Quebec
Who: Mens teams and Womens teams
Format: Jamboree style short format games (15 minute halves), 15 a side. Depending on the number of teams the event will take place over one or two days.
There will be food (bbq) available at the field and trophies up for grabs.
It promises to be an excellent day of really fun rugby, a great way of marking the end of the 2026 LPR season and a wonderful way of celebrating our brilliant sport and everyone who plays it here in Quebec.
Kindest regards.
