Dausen Gravel is a Second degree black belt in Jiu-Jitsu and Canadian Gold Medalist in kickboxing, with over 20 years experience learning and compe
ting in multiple disciplines including Gi and no Gi grappling, Kickboxing, Judo, and self defense. His Martial Arts journey began in the late 90s training Utsuri-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu under Sensei Joseph Lindal. Utsuri-Ryu translates to βThe Changing Way.β and it is this idea of an ever changing and evolving Art that began the basis for the DRCA system. After attaining the rank of black belt after 16 years of study, Dausen's new mission to learn and adapt multiple styles into an effective system began. After 10 years of cross training with many top instructors and competing at all levels he had many revelations about how combat sports should be taught. The most important of these is "Training should be directly tailored to meet the individual goals and abilities of the student." Using this idea as a guiding principle he offers personalized training strategies; utilizing techniques such as learning through play, health and fitness education, solo home training programs and many other ways to design your learning environment to get you the best results.
