We have some very sad news to share with all of you. A member of our pickleball family has recently passed away. Many of you knew Stephen Jones and his wife Sue. Steve's battle with cancer ended on January 16th.

Steve and Sue were members of both Funky Bounce and the West Kelowna Pickleball Club. Pickleball was a favourite pastime of Steve and Sue's and our community has benefitted because of their passion.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Steve's home church, Lakeview Heights Baptist Church on January 24 at 13:30 PST. The celebration will be live streamed for those who are unable to attend in person. Arrangements are in the care of Everden Rust Funeral Services & Crematorium,

ANNOUNCEMENT - You must show proof of vaccination in order to play pickleball at Funky Bounce. You will need to upload a screenshot or a picture of your BC Vaccination Card when you register.

The response this Fall has been incredible. In fact we are in talks with the camp in hopes of getting more playing times. We don’t want to end up in a situation where we have more players than there are usable times so we have temporarily suspended registrations.

We hope to hear from the camp in the next day or two. Stay tuned.

If you are looking to try and improve your game you might be interested in taking some lessons. Semi-private lessons (maximum of 4 players) are $20 each for 1.5 hours and private lessons are $30. The day and timing of the lessons is flexible so we should be able to find a time that fits your schedule.

Covid 19 precautions will be in place in order to keep everyone safe including:
- Hand sanitizer
- Only the instructor will handle the pickleballs with their hands
- Physical distancing of 2 meters will be emphasized

If you are interested in improving your game by taking a lesson please let me know.

PS - A decision on whether or not Funky Bounce Indoor Pickleball will operate in the fall will be made in late September. An email will be sent out once a decision has been made.

Drop in fees are $5 and subscriptions are available that reduce the per session rate to as low as $1.67! New this season is the addition of a pickleball academy that will be held on Friday afternoons. The end of the fall season is approaching. As a windup to the season we will be having a fun tournament on Friday December 20 from 12:00 - 4:00(ish). We will not charge any money for this event but we will take in food and cash donations for the West Kelowna Food Bank. If you want to play in the tournament you must register by clicking on the link below. Please only register if you are able and willing to play from 12:00 - 3:30(ish). You won’t be playing the whole time as there will be some breaks but we don’t want people starting the tournament and then leaving, causing administrative chaos.

You don’t need to have a partner to enter the event. The format of the tournament is as follows:
There will be 2 stages to the tournament:
Stage 1 will be Round Robin play
Stage 2 will be a double elimination tournament
Stage 1 - You will be placed into pools of 4-6 players and will play a Round Robin with those players. Scores from the Round Robin will be used to seed players from first to last.
Stage 2 - Players will be partnered up based on the results of the Round Robin. You will now play with your partner for the rest of the tournament. Once you lose 2 games you are out.
