From Master Nam

Let me tell you what this place is really about.

Coming to the dojang is not about sparring. It is not about self-defense. It is about building a habit. That is what separates us from every other school. That is the only thing that matters.

We are influenced by the world around us more than we admit. People think they can train alone at home. They cannot. You know why? Because there is no one there. No one who sees them. No one who shows up.

Every day we take in enormous amounts of information. Through our eyes. Through our ears. And that information finds our weak spots. It tells us we are behind. It tells us we are not enough. So people compare. They get depressed. They lose themselves.

But one person changes everything.

Just one. One person who genuinely looks at you — not through you — and sees what you are capable of. That is all it takes. And when that happens, something shifts. The energy moves outward. It reaches other people. Lives change. Not just yours.

The problem is staying power. Ordinary willpower is not enough. Training alone at home does not work. Even the gym — people quit in two months. Every time.

Our dojang is different.

I know it. Our head instructor knows it. Our assistant instructors know it. They have all lived it. They have stories. Real ones. And now they pass it on — to the next person, and the next. That is how we have built this. Twenty-five years. Quietly. Solidly. It did not happen by accident. People pushed each other. Pulled each other. Volunteered. Showed up. And they became the kind of people who are deeply rooted. Hard to move. Hard to break.

Our students train before university. They train after. Not because we ask them to. Because this place keeps them pointed in the right direction. Away from the wrong paths. That is not a small thing.

So understand this.

Our dojang is not an activity. If that is what you are looking for, there are other places. We wish you well. But if you want to change your own life — and become the kind of person who changes the lives around you — a linchpin in this community — then come. Without hesitation. Become part of this family. Permanently.

We do not want to produce champions in competition.

We want to make you a champion at life.

We will see you on the mat.

— Master Nam 🥋
Think and Act with Consistency and Discipline.

🥋 Congratulations to All New Black Belts

It was a long day. It meant something.

Sunday morning they came in early. They signed their names and loosened their bodies and their faces said nothing. That is the way it is before something hard begins.

Then the tradition started. One hundred push-ups. One hundred sit-ups. One hundred jumping jacks. One hundred squats. By the squats they knew. There was no pretending left.

And when the last squat was done, the 5K had already begun. No rest. No announcement. It simply began, the way hard things do.

They all wanted to stop. A man always wants to stop when it gets bad enough. But they did not stop. They had not come for a belt to wear. They had come to see the end of something they had chosen. That is a different thing entirely. I was proud of them.

Lincoln’s mother was there. Merin and Recon’s parents were there. Evie’s uncle and Mohammed’s siblings ran too — not because they had to, but because that is what you do for someone when it counts. The others ran harder because of it.

Now they carry something. Not a rank. Not a color. The knowledge of what they did on a Sunday morning when they wanted to stop and did not.

They will pass that to the ones coming behind them. They will be louder. They will be steadier. They will lead — not by talking about it, but by being it.

Think and Act with Consistency and Discipline. 🥋

For ten years, he said nothing.

No announcement. No post. No mention — not even to his closest students.
While building a dojang, teaching hundreds of families, and shaping the next generation of Niagara’s young people, Master Nam was quietly doing something else entirely.
Every time, without recognition, without applause, he put on a different uniform and served his community as an Auxiliary Sergeant with the Niagara Regional Police Service.

For nearly a decade, he showed up.
This past May 12th, the Niagara Regional Police Service named him their 2025 District Officer of the Year — Auxiliary Unit.
He didn’t want us to share this. That’s exactly why we are.

Because this is what he has always taught — not in words, but in action.
The deepest form of service is the kind no one sees. The kind you do because it’s right. Because your community deserves it. Because you chose to.

This is what he said to his students:

“The real heroes are not me.
The full-time sworn officers — the ones working around the clock, behind the scenes, in the moments no one sees — they are the ones carrying the weight. Every single day. Without pause. Without recognition.
I am humbled to stand anywhere near them.
I did what I could. For 10 years, quietly, without announcement — I served this community. Most people in my life didn’t even know.

To my students, I need you to hear this.
Every time I emphasized volunteerism inside our dojang, it wasn’t just a lesson. It was deliberate.
I wanted to build something in you—the ability to give freely, without waiting to be asked. To serve your dojang, your team, your people — not because someone told you to, but because you chose to.
That inner strength — that habit of showing up for others — that is what I was building.

Because one day, you will walk out of this dojang and into the world.
And when you do — I want you to be the person who serves your community, who serves this country, who gives back without keeping score.
Just like you learned to do here.”

This is the man who has been standing at the front of your dojang.
Not just a Taekwondo instructor.
An auxiliary sergeant. A volunteer. A neighbour. A guardian.
Respect, Master Nam.

Think and Act with Consistency and Discipline.

🌸 Happy Mother’s Day 🌸
Last Friday, we shared the mat with our moms — and it was one of the most powerful moments we’ve had in this dojang.
We saw women who once were little girls full of dreams.
Women who once had a whole world ahead of them.
Today — they chose to pour every ounce of that love, that strength, that fire into their children. Into their families. Into the people they love most.
That is not just motherhood. That is power. That is greatness.
Behind every strong child stands a powerful mother.
To every mom in our community — we see you. We honour you. We respect you. 💚
Happy Mother’s Day — from our whole family to yours. 🥋
