We’re very excited to celebrate our Alumnus and Founder Ariga-sensei passing the 8 dan exam!

Our event tomorrow will be a packed day of practice, dinner, and celebration. Excited to see everyone soon 🎉

Welcome back to the Fall term for 2026 🍂!
We’re excited to announce our new schedule for September!

Practice times:
The first Advanced practice starts tomorrow September 9th. Fundamentals will begin on September 28th.
Advanced Practice:
- Monday & Wednesday: 7 - 9 PM @ PAC Studio 2
- Saturday: 12:30 - 2 PM @ PAC Studio 1
Fundamentals:
- Monday & Wednesday: 9 - 10 PM @ PAC Studio 2
- Saturday: 11 AM - 12:30 PM @ PAC Studio 1

Two special events are on the way, so stay tuned for more updates!
- Athletics day: September 15, 11 AM - 2 PM @ SLC Great Hall
- Taro Ariga Sensei celebration: September 26, 2 - 4 PM @ CIF Gym 1 & 2

Last week, Team Waterloo played in the 2026 Renshin Women’s Taikai ‼️

Congratulations to everyone that participated and to Lareina Chen, entering her first-ever tournament officially as an alum and winning first in Mudansha/Shodan and third in Teams 🏆

Two weeks ago, Waterloo alumni gathered back for our Winter 2026 EOT and to help send off our grads 👴

With the end of the Spring term this August, the Waterloo Kendo Club would like to thank everyone for an amazing summer! We’re fortunate to be able to connect with other kendo communities through tournaments such as TKC and the Montreal Taikai this year and look forward to the many more that will follow.
Our club members have also made our community here in Waterloo all the more memorable as well ✨ So, to those who have left and/or graduated, we wish you all the best in the future!

The UW Kendo Club will be having our FREE try outs starting today in PAC Studio 1 from 8PM to 9:30PM ✨
All you need to bring is yourself and comfortable clothes and we will provide the rest!

You can still sign-up for our trial days through the link in our bio!
