Chief Instructor

Terry Yanke Shihan is the Chief Instructor of Waterloo Jiu Jitsu. He is a former Waterloo Regional Police Officer and was an Emergency Response Team Leader. He combines martial arts with techn

iques he used when he was a police officer to create a very effective self-defense system. He has taught classes in local schools and businesses and is a trainer for women’s self defense programs. Some of his Accomplishments include:

Former President of the Canadian Jiu-Jitsu Association and World Council of Jiujitsu Organizations. Director Black Belt Grading Board
9th degree Black Belt in Jiu-Jitsu
1st Degree Black Belt in judo
Inductee in the Canadian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Hall of Fame
