University of Waterloo Dragon Boat Club (UWDBC)

University of Waterloo Dragon Boat Club (UWDBC) Dragon Boat club run out of UWaterloo in partnership with the Waterloo Paddling Club. We strive to be the best crew in Canada!

Founded by two Waterloo Engineering students in the summer of 2008, UWDBC started off as a local recreational team that participated in only a single regatta — the Waterloo Kiwanis Dragon Boat Festival. A year after, the sheer desire to ‘make a mark’ led the team to compete in the Toronto International Dragon Boat Festival as well as the local regatta in Waterloo. Over the next few years, we progr

essed at an outstanding pace in management, visibility, and athletic performance of the club. We recruited more paddlers, competed in more regattas, and enjoyed the steady climb that our team has made in the rankings. This year, the dominating performance of the club has taken everyone by surprise and we are off to Hungary in Spring 2017 to take home gold! In only five years since the humble beginnings, the club managed to secure our own boat and practice site at Laurel Creek Conservation Area, dozens of paddles and life-jackets, various sponsors, and fame across the University and the dragon boat community. In only five years, we are strokes away from the top.

HEY WARRIORS- Who is ready to give this semester a proper start? 🔥🔥

Come join us at our UW Competitive Sports BOT Potluck, for an evening of games, friends and food!👀😱

Location: SLC Multipurpose Room
Date/ Time: Saturday, January 24th @ 5-9PM!

We will be having this Potluck party with a bunch of other cool UW sports clubs like Quadball, Underwater Hockey, and Chinese Martial Arts!👀🔥

The potluck is a great opportunity to meet execs, the team members you’ll be training with this term, and learn about other fun clubs you can join on campus! 💪💪
