**Update - Important**
Good news, Bad news.
We recently participated in a meeting with Wasaga Beach Provincial Parks superintendent, and the assistant superintendent. There are some new developments regarding windsports access to WBPP.
The good -
Windsports access will continue. The designated area will be at Beach Area 6 when swim buoys are installed (June). The launch area has been moved a few hundred meters east of the previous area. It is now located at the east end of the parking lot. Our new area should be close to 3 times larger, than the average size of the past years launch zone. Entrance and exit buoys will also increase inline with the setup zone on the beach.
WBPP will be updating their windsports signage. They will also install a type of sports occurrence probability sign at the gatehouse entrance.
Another new positive development will be the introduction of the windsports advocacy program. This is a volunteer venture, where designated local ambassadors will act as a liaison to windsport, and non-windsport participants. They will be identifiable by means of some type of apparel. Their duties are to inform, and answer questions. Enforcement is the responsibility of WBPP staff, windsports advocates do not have authority to enforce any laws or acts.
The Bad -
Piping plovers have established nesting sites from Allenwood Beach west to Beach Area 1. From Spring, to when the swim buoys are removed (September) windsports are prohibited from these areas. My interpretation from our meeting is that windsports may never be permitted at Allenwood in the spring/summer season. The positive takeaway is that we can still use Allenwood in the Fall (when buoys are removed).
I will try to update with some relevant maps, and any info I have left out.
Cheers, and Good Winds
