Warner Minor Hockey exemplifies volunteerism through our entirely volunteer-driven model. All coaches and board members serve in a volunteer capacity, including individuals who do not have children participating in the program.
Parents are actively engaged and each takes on a meaningful role to support our organization. These roles include selling 50/50 tickets at home games, laundering and transporting team jerseys to both home and away games, filling water bottles, operating the scorebox, securing sponsorships, advertising local businesses through rink board ads and banners, and organizing an annual raffle featuring multiple prizes. Our shared responsibility model fosters a strong culture of teamwork and accountability while ensuring our organization operates successfully.
Our association demonstrates a genuine spirit of community service through our outreach beyond the rink. Our teams have volunteered at the Prairie Rose Lodge in Milk River, where players and volunteers spent time playing games and visiting with residents, creating meaningful intergenerational connections. Our organization also supports families in need by contributing to the Warner Angel Tree program and the Milk River Food Hamper during the Christmas season, reinforcing values of compassion and generosity among our young athletes.
The Warner Wheat Kings show a strong and ongoing commitment to the broader community through active participation in local events and initiatives. Our association proudly participates in the Warner Santa Claus Parade and the Warner Days Parade by submitting a float that includes players, parents, and coaches wearing team apparel and jerseys, strengthening community pride and visibility. In addition, our organization sponsors the Green Shirt Day β4 on 4β floor hockey tournament trophy at Milk River Ridge School in honour of the Humboldt Broncos, promoting remembrance, kindness, and mental health awareness.
The impact of Warner Minor Hockey extends well beyond hockey development. Our program inspires volunteerism by creating an inclusive environment where families feel valued and encouraged to contribute. Hockey provides children with the opportunity to be part of a team, build confidence, and develop lifelong social skills. Our association is welcoming and accepting of all families, regardless of hockey experience or financial circumstances, ensuring every child has the opportunity to participate, belong, and thrive within a supportive community.
