What a run, WOAA champion,OMHA champion, and now closing out the OHF championship game with an outstanding 2-1 winning performance. This was a massive year for you to prove the past didn't matter, just kept working your ass off and kept improving. Your massive late sliding cross crease blocker save was unreal, and showed your leap in tracking ability and mental maturity. Congratulations Fryzy, you earned this one!!

Well that's a wrap for Elloise for U13AA with Saugeen Maitland. After playing for 3 years(played 1st year as a double minor) against the top female talent in Ontario, it will be time to put a new age division on notice, and find a way to keep developing and improving. Proud would be an massive understatement. First playing as an underage player your first year, and then when you were just starting to settle in a year later, getting diagnosed with type 1 diabetes last spring. Not only did you figure out how to manage playing with Type 1, you did it all your first year with no goalie partner to rely on if you weren't feeling 100% or good at all, and you played every single game except 1!! No backup to bail you out, and no back up to give you a much needed break ever. You showed up and fought every single game against top talent teams that were far superior, and you battled to the buzzer no matter the score, through sore mussles, high and low blood sugars, insulin pump changes, and cgm censor changes. Then if that wasn't enough we had to deal with the tragic loss of my sister, your Aunt, in October as she lost her own battle with mental health. You pushed on, got invited to tryout and made Team Ontario over the Christmas break even with all the turmoil in your life. Your mental strength is so admirable, and I know your strength has helped me through many dark times this past year. I don't know how many more years I'll get to work with you, but on the ice we get to focus on just you, me, and the puck, nothing else. That is truly my happy place. Love you more than you will ever know.

Was interesting having 2 goalies i work with playing against each other in WOAA finals. Both were great, and made me proud to watch these 2 young men compete and battle with everything they had. Unfortunately only one could come out the winner, and tonight he did it with a shutout to close out the series. Great job gents, and congratulations Fryzy on your well deserved WOAA Champoinship.

As some of you know, and some don't I am a type 1 diabetic, diagnosed when i was around 10 years old. Back in March my biggest fear as a parent came true when my daughter Elloise was diagnosed at 12. I started noticing her thinning out around December, and then she started having massive energy crashes on the ice that eventually resulted in her having to leave the ice. Then weight loss followed and other signs I reccognized and couldnt ignore, like frequent urination, my intuition was unfortunately correct, we had another type 1 in the house......While it hasn't been without challenges she had faced everything head on just as she does in the crease. From doing all her own needles right from the get go, learning to count carbs, to now managing an insulin pump. She has worked to regain the over 15 lbs of muscle she had lost and continues to make gains. Her focus and drive is back and her development curve is once again skyrocketing up!! Her skill and determination recently showed in a tournament we attended in Oakville a few weeks ago where she was blasted with 152 shots against in 4 games in which her team scored zero goals all weekend. Although she didn't get any wins she was the talk of the tournament and I received a call later that week from the head coach of Team Ontario for the War for the Roses tournament asking if she would come and tryout!! For those that don't know this is an invite only tryout for a team that takes the best talent from ontario to a huge tournament in Edmonton at the west Edmonton Mall in the summer, the female side of the Brick.. Proud Dad and coach would be a massive understatement!!! This diabetic journey for her will be filled with ups and downs but I know the warrior spirit she possesses will always win. I know your ceiling is limitless, time to start showing everyone else what your true potential is. This will not slow you down!!

Finished up with my 3rd 2hr clinic this morning with South Bruce Minor Hockey. Thanks for the great effort the goalies put in over the last few weeks. The improvement was very noticeable today!!
