Wow, what a crazy busy couple of weeks!

For those who don't know me yet, hi, I'm Chelsey, and I'm so happy to be introducing myself as the new owner of The Welcome Mat!

What started as a spark of interest and a text I almost didn't send, turned into this amazing opportunity. From the start, I told myself, "If it's meant to be, it'll be." Turns out - it was 😊

First, I want to thank Ariel. She has built such a special community and has been incredible throughout this process. From answering my endless questions to sharing her knowledge, encouragement, and support, I honestly don’t know what I would have done without her. Thank you for trusting me with something you've poured so much of yourself into and for helping make this such a positive transition.

I also want to thank our amazing teachers for keeping everything running so smoothly while I've been learning the ropes behind the scenes. You all make this space what it is, and I'm so grateful to have such a great team.

And to everyone who’s been part of this journey so far, and to our current members who have been so welcoming, thank you. The support has been overwhelming in the best way, and I'm incredibly grateful.

I’ve loved everything about this studio, the community, and the fact that everyone is welcome here no matter your age or fitness level, and that will never change.

My goal is to keep building on what’s already been created with a few new ideas, classes, workshops, and experiences that fit what The Welcome Mat is all about. With my background in health and nutrition, you’ll also see some new offerings come through the studio from time to time, along with some nutrition and lifestyle content mixed in on social media - all to support you better both in and out of class. This space is really about having something for everyone. Whether you’re here to move, slow down, challenge yourself, connect, or just take an hour away from the chaos of everyday life.

As for me, I’m excited, grateful, running on a little less sleep than usual, and learning that running a studio comes with a lot more laundry than anyone ever mentions! 🤣

I can't wait to share what's ahead - stay tuned! ✨️

Every time you come to your mat, you bring a different story…🤍

Since 2019, The Welcome Mat has been a space strengthened by community and filled with connection, movement, healing, and growth. It has held space for students, teachers, and friendships over the years, and today, we are excited to share with you the next chapter of The Welcome Mat!

As of June 1st, 2026, The Welcome Mat will welcome new ownership under Chelsey Macdonald. Chesley shares the same commitment to wellness and community that has always been at the heart of this space, and the change to her capable and caring hands ensures our little studio continues to grow and thrive under her guidance.

This transition has been approached with great care and intention to ensure that our yogis, our team and our community feel supported and without any major disruption. Classes, passes, memberships and teachers, as well as the services and processes you know and trust, will continue. After June 1st, you will be prompted to sign a new liability waiver the next time you book a class through MindBody or at the studio, but otherwise all booking and systems are business as usual:)

Ariel will continue as part of The Welcome Mat story as teacher and friend, and on her mat side by side with each of you.

We are so excited to share this change with you and all the possibilities it brings. We hope it finds you filled with the same and thank you for your continued support throughout the transition.

You have made this studio far more than a business — it has been a home, and we can’t wait to continue to welcome you!

Reminder! 🌟
We know life happens, and so we have what we believe is a very flexible & generous cancellation policy of just 3 hours.

Please be mindful of your bookings as we have seen an increase in “late-cancels” (within the 3 hour window), or yogis not showing for scheduled classes. This makes it very difficult for us to plan for classes, and is disheartening for the teachers. Additionally, many of our classes are full with waitlists, and no-shows and late cancels are preventing those holding hopeful on the waitlist from attending.

We would very much like to remain with our current yogi-friendly booking, pass and payment system, however may need to explore late-cancellation/ no-show fees, removing unlimited pass options, or changes to our booking process if this trend continues. We ask for your cooperation with your bookings as we go forward together. 🤍

We know the benefits and experiences that yoga brings are invaluable….but every now and again you have to attach a value to things:) 🤍 Effective today, The Welcome Mat has adjusted our pricing so as to better reflect the industry standard and to maintain the high standard we have for your yoga experience with us.

We are incredibly grateful for your continued support as we grow our yoga community together. If you have any questions, please contact the studio. Note: if you are currently on an auto-renew contract with us, the old pricing (your current monthly price) will be honoured for the remaining months in your contract.

🌟March Movement Challenge!🌟

During the month of March, we challenged our yogis to complete 21 classes in 31 days, and our yogis knocked it out of the park! Many finished with extra classes and extra smiles…thank you to all who participated, and congratulations to the 5 amazing yogis who completed the challenge (Keisha, Keoma, Janelle, Brieanne & Kayla)! 🙌🏻

Participants who completed the challenge were entered into a draw to win a month of free yoga at The Welcome Mat, a massage with Alison @ What We Become, and a gift card from Jack’s Place. ☕️
