Nat came to me 6 months after breaking her ankle in 3 places. Her surgery left her with an internal titanium rod, a steel plate and a couple dozen screws. She knew she needed to work on strength and mobility so she could return to functioning normally and doing the things she loves to do. She started doing these without any resistance or weights and with the assistance of a stick, then we removed the stick and now after 4 weeks she’s using resistance from the cable machine. Small improvements lead to big results, you just have to be comfortable doing the small stuff and stay consistent. I am very, very proud of her accomplishments so far. Did I mention she’s also a breast cancer survivor 🩷👏

Hard work and consistency is what gets these results. It’s not 3 months, it’s not one summer, it’s not quick diets.
She worked for this every day both in and out of the gym. Training + nutrition.

She has been training the last 2 years with intention and purpose and her body has transformed. She never needed to lose a ton of weight. What she wanted was to get fit, get stronger and get “in shape”.

No it hasn’t been easy. Her lifestyle is not always perfect. That’s okay. The goal is to stay the course and not give up when things get tough.

I am super proud of her work, her attitude and how she leads by example for her family.

Oh and by the way, she’s also 47!!!! 👏

Here are a few healthy, budget friendly meals you can make for your family.
I roasted chicken thighs (they are more economical than chicken breasts). Seasoned them with dry spices.
I also roasted a bunch of veggies that are local and in season. People don’t realize that buying foods that are in season & local are often less expensive than say buying berries in the winter. So buying seasonal fruits and veggies is a great option.

Imagine 1 - roasted chicken thighs with roasted root veggies (butternut squash, carrots, & potatoes

Image 2 - chicken with steamed basmati rice and broccoli

Image 3 - i used the leftovers to create a somewhat new meal for my kids lunch. I tossed some bow pasta with chopped up chicken thighs, broccoli, Parmesan cheese and some olive oil

Image 4- for breakfast: scrambled eggs and berries (but again you can replace the fruit with an apple or banana or pear (or any fall fruits) . Or you can replace the eggs with yogurt and fruits.

Creating healthy, easy, budget friendly meals is possible but it does take a little effort but our families health and ours are so worth it.

You can always make excuses why now isn’t the right time to start exercising, but if it’s important to you, you’ll make the time.

And I wonder, how can someone not find time to train for their own health and longevity?

The best time to start was months or even years ago but it’s never too late to start (or restart) now.
