Crag X Climbing Gym Open since 1995, Crag X is Victoria's downtown Climbing Gym. Victoria'a downtown climbing gym. Crag X tries to be a welcoming space for all people.

We hope to have people of all ages and athletic abilities in our gym. We also try to make sure we don’t exclude people of your race, colour, s*x, age, national origin, religion, s*xual orientation, gender identity or citizenship. We think every human can understand the joy that comes from climbing. People climb for all kinds of reasons: friendship, fitness, adventure, to learn a new skill, to give

their mind some calm and focus, to get strong, to get flexible, to conquer their fear of heights, to practice for outdoor climbing, to see if they like it, to be brave, to challenge themselves, to relax, and to learn from trying and falling and trying again.

Over the years, we've amassed a substantial hoard of Milwaukee batteries used for all of our settings needs. We want to see if there are any other proud power tool users like us out there, so we invite you to send us a photo of your Milwaukee batteries and show off your collection. Not a Milwaukee fan? That's fine: take photos of your Makita or DeWalt batteries with the hashtag and and know we're judging you—but not enough to not let you participate. Home Depot battery users, on the other hand, need not apply.

If you earn your paycheque on the tools like we do, send us a photo of your Milwaukee batteries and we'll give you a chance to try our work. Anyone with ten or more wins a Beginner Lesson for four this summer so you can bring all your power tool wielding buddies down to Crag X to put that grip strength to proper use. That's $290 worth of instruction, and you get a 2-week mini membership too! Tag us in your photos and try to put a little artistic flair into them. Deadline to enter and book your lesson is AUGUST 31.

Start your weekend off right and join Harrison at Saturday Morning Climbing Club from 8AM to 10AM for a special FREE session and Gear Inspection workshop! Bring your climbing kit and inspection questions down to the gym to make sure all is in working order before heading out for the outdoor season.

Here's the itinerary for the session:

8:10 - 8:45 Gear inspection clinic
8:45 - 9:00 Warm-up
9:00 - 9:30 Warm-up climb/partner swap
9:30 - 10:00 Studio work out/stretch

Can't make the whole session? Feel free to drop in for as much as you'd like. We'll see you there!

Friendly Friday will take place this week on JUNE 5TH from 7PM to 930PM—and features a giveaway!

Each participant for June's Friendly Friday will be eligible to win TWO tickets to a film premiere for Flow: Voices From Rivers, Rock, and Sky, a documentary that explores the lives of women in adventure sports. Directed by Czech filmmaker Honza Považan and produced by Victoria-based Grace Gorman along with Denisa Krásná and Alena Rainsberry, Flow follows women in sports such as whitewater kayaking, climbing, and highlining. Never been to Friendly Friday? Join Amy as she pairs you up with some lovely folks and hopefully you'll make new friends! Let the front desk know you're with Friendly Friday and enjoy a discounted drop-in and some great company. Try to arrive between 7-730PM, but if you come later, no problem! Just ask staff to direct you to the Friendly Friday crew.

Rock Talk Returns for 2026!

This climbing season, we invite you to share your outdoor adventures with us. We’re seeking anything from epic stories at popular crags to tales of discovery at lesser known locales, or even embarrassing incidents of times when not all went to plan. We invite you to consider: what did this experience teach you, and why do you want to share it with the world? Rock Talk is an opportunity for us to learn from other climbers' outdoor escapades and we want the community to be at the centre of it.

Submissions are open from July 18th to August 2nd. If your story is selected, we will contact you with further details before the event kicks off in September! Visit cragx.ca/rocktalk2026 to submit.

It's already been a week since the huge Spring Fling Finals Day! If you missed out on stamping your shirt, we’re happy to say that there will be two more opportunities for you to get in on the creative goodness.

We’ll have the stamping station open for business tomorrow (May 9th) at 3PM and Tuesday (May 12th) at 6PM, so bring your bare SFCT shirts down and warm up your fingers for stamping.

Thanks again for your participation in SFCT! We had an absolute blast running it for you all and can’t wait for what’s next in store.
