Ballet Victoria Victoria's premier professional ballet company In downtown Victoria at the back of St. Andrews Church is a dance studio behind stained glass windows.

Every day, thirteen professional dancers and apprentices train and rehearse original works being created right there, right now. With the direction of Paul Destrooper, innovation is happening, quietly but insistently. Music inspires bodies to create beauty and harmony in dance. For our upcoming production of Ballet Rocks, we are bringing back “Is This the Real Life”, choreographed by Andrea Bayne.

An Artist’s journey, strugglng to believe there is life after lost love, and the unfortunate reaction of a futuristic society.

The ballet follows an Artist who, after losing the love of his life, struggles to find meaning in a world that seems increasingly disconnected and indifferent.

Get ready for “Le Jazz Hot” — a sparkling pas de deux filled with personality, sass, energy, and pure fun! Created by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and choreographed by J. Lemay, this crowd-pleaser is set to music from Victor/Victoria by Henry Mancini, made famous by Julie Andrews.
This piece has some serious ballet history. It was first performed by legendary RWB ballerina Evelyn Hart during the company’s first tour to the USSR. Later, RWB principal dancer Laura Graham performed it at the World Ballet Competition in Varna — where she won gold!

Now it’s your chance to experience the magic. “Le Jazz Hot” is just one of the many exciting pieces waiting for you in Ballet Rocks!
