In Memory of Kathy MacKenzie.
Kathy passed away on February 20, 2026.
Kathy was a longtime VCC member as well as a huge contributor to the curling community in Victoria and British Columbia. She had a profound and lasting impact upon curling in our region, serving as an official at numerous Zone, Regional and Provincial Championships, mentoring & training officials, coaching juniors, acting as league coordinator for the Evening Ladies league at VCC and helping organize any number of bonspiels, programs and other initiatives. A true ambassador to her sport.
In recognition of her efforts, she has been honoured with a Curl BC lifetime membership, and is a recipient of the Victoria Curling Club's Golden Shield Award
In 2007, she received both the Curl BC Official of the Year award and the Janette Robbins & Sport BC President’s award. This latter award is given annually to an to an individual who represents the spirit of volunteerism and whose outstanding dedication, energy and commitment is critical to curling development and the advancement of curling in BC, and who has set an example for other volunteers.
She will be deeply missed. Our condolences to her family and friends.
