Wrote this tune at the Shiva Temple last weekend! This is the king of the Mantra: The Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is an ancient Vedic mantra addressed to Lord Shiva, found in the Rigveda, that is chanted for healing, longevity, and liberation from the fear of death. The Sanskrit mantra is ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम्। उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय माऽमृतात्॥ and is often translated as "Om, We worship the three-eyed One, who is fragrant and increases nourishment. Like a cucumber freed from its stalk, may I be liberated from death, but not from immortality".
Meaning of the Mantra:
Om Tryambakam Yajamahe: "Om, we worship the three-eyed One (Rudra/Shiva)".
Sugandhim Pushti-vardhanam: "Who is fragrant (spiritual essence) and increases nourishment (of the spiritual core)".
Urvarukamiva Bandhanan: "Like a cucumber tied to its creeper".
Mrityor Mukshiya Ma'mritat: "May I be liberated from death (attachment to perishable things), so I am not separated from immortality".
