The summertime is a great time of year to relax, get some sunshine, and enjoy the Okanagan...BUT it is also a PRIMETIME for teens [especially athletes looking to improve their performance] to dedicate some time to the gym and get STRONGER, FASTER and more POWERFUL. For many, it's the only time of year where they don't have a sports schedule that takes up the majority of their time and energy. This means that they can put FULL EFFORT and COMMITMENT to getting stronger, faster, etc.

If you're not necessarily training for a certain sport performance, this program provides extreme benefit for general physical preparation as every individual benefits from getting stronger, more coordinated and improving their overall level of fitness.

While each sport certainly has some unique requirements of physical training and preparation, all teenagers are still developing and the absolute, most important, and most influential attribute they can develop is a Base Level of Strength.

Now, that may not sound very flashy and I know the buzzword around training for sports these days [especially court athletes] is plyometrics, agility, jump training, etc. Don't get me wrong, we absolutely train jumps, speed, change of direction, etc. But overtraining and focusing too much on these SPECIFICS will leave major gaps and holes in athletic abilities.

Summer can be a tricky time of year to commit with different work schedules, activities, leisure and vacation/travel. Here is what we are planning.

Days/Times: TUESDAY & THURSDAY, 3:30pm to 4:30pm (optional, adding ***WEDNESDAY*** as well pending registration)

Start/End Date: Tuesday, July 7th - Wednesday, August 27th (8 weeks, 16 or 24 sessions)

Cost Options - Full and Limited options take into consideration that you'll likely miss 1-2 weeks:

Full Program (up to 24 sessions) - $315+GST

Limited Program (up to 16 sessions) - $225+GST

Minimal Program (up to 8 sessions) - $155+GST

***Wednesday*** - this will be an added day pending registration numbers. For reference, our minimum registration count is:
Full Program x 6-8 OR Limited Program x 9-12

We are looking to plan ASAP for these sessions, please respond at your earliest convenience if YOU'RE IN! As well as what days work for you, ie: we can commit to the limited program but only on Tuesday and Wednesday.

If you're interested but the days don't seem to work, let me know. A different schedule may work better for everyone.

Starting your fitness journey can sometimes be intimidating.

Our coaches are here to help you every step of the way.

We start off by a phone call to get to know you a little bit and what you’re looking for. We then set up a free consultation at our facility for a more in-depth conversation. Moving into our one-on-one assessments then fundamental program before moving you into group class.

This structure is not only to provide the right support to learn safe and proper mechanics, it’s to help build your confidence.

We know starting can be scary. We know that our coaches help make the journey assuring and enjoyable.

Coaching is more than running a class—it’s teaching you how to move with purpose.

Every session, our coaches are breaking down movements, demonstrating key positions, and giving you clear points of performance to focus on. Not just what to do—but how to do it well.

We’re watching for quality, adjusting where needed, and helping you understand what your body should feel like in each movement.

Because when you understand the “why” behind what you’re doing, progress isn’t random—it’s intentional.

Age isn’t the reason you’re not in shape.

Yes, getting older brings changes—recovery can take longer, and you might feel a bit stiffer some mornings. But that’s not a reason to step away from your health.

What matters most are your habits.

Are you fueling your body well?
Are you moving consistently?
Are you making your health a priority—or putting it off for “someday”?

There are people in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond getting stronger, building muscle, and feeling better than they have in years. The difference isn’t age—it’s that they’ve committed to taking care of themselves.

Age might change how you approach things, but it doesn’t remove your ability to improve.

So the question is—what are you going to do with it?

Choose to move.
Choose to build.
Choose to keep showing up.

The Jefferson Curl is one of the most misunderstood—and most valuable—movements we use.

At first glance, it looks simple: slowly rolling down through the spine under load. But what it’s really doing is teaching your body something most people avoid—how to control and strengthen the spine in flexion.

Your spine isn’t meant to be stiff all the time. It’s meant to move, adapt, and handle load in different positions.

When done properly, the Jefferson Curl helps:

▪️Improve segmental control of the spine
▪️Build strength through ranges we often neglect
▪️Increase resilience in positions where injuries tend to happen
▪️Prepare your body for real-life movement (where things aren’t always “neutral”)

We keep it light, controlled, and intentional. This isn’t about how much weight you can lift—it’s about how well you can move.

Because a strong spine isn’t just one that stays rigid—
it’s one that can move confidently and come back from it.

Please help us welcome Judy to the Forge Fam!

We asked Judy to answer some questions after finishing her Fundamentals and heading into Group Class:

➡️Why did you start at Forge?
I have an old back injury that was truly becoming an issue as I grow older. I wanted to strengthen my whole body and learn how to lift properly so I can maintain independence and enjoy life.

➡️What have you noticed so far since getting more regular with exercise and training?
That my back has greatly improved and that I body yearns for more.

➡️What are you looking forward to?
Not being sore for 2 days after a work out :)

Welcome Judy! We are stoked to have you part of the Forge Family!

Deadlifts aren’t just about lifting a barbell.

They’re about preparing you for real life—when things aren’t perfectly set up, and you still need to pick something up safely and confidently.

Groceries. Kids. Moving furniture. Yard work. Life.

We teach you how to hinge properly, brace your core, and use your whole body the way it’s designed to move—so when those moments come, your body knows exactly what to do.

It’s not about lifting the heaviest weight in the gym.
It’s about building the strength and confidence to handle whatever life throws your way.
