Hope everyone had a fantastic summer! If your summer was filled with a few too many beers and BBQs then September can be the best time to get back into a regular fitness routine. Here's your next fit tip: take these next few weeks to try new types of exercises, fitness classes, new weightlifting routines etc., and get back into a routine :)

Here's a fit tip for you: Don’t overlook rest! Rest is so important to give your body time to recover and this is really where you see the most gains. Just because you have time to fit in 2 full workouts per day doesn’t mean you necessarily should. Depending on your goal, whether you’ve been training regularly, how heavy you’ve been lifting, etc. rest between workouts can be anywhere between 24 hrs to 96 hrs.

Exercise tip: Bored of your routine? Try incorporating more functional exercises into your workout. Functional exercises are basically anything that mimics the movements we do every day. They teach muscles to work together instead of in isolation, they work your core, and they also help prevent injuries that can occur doing regular, everyday things.

This week's Fit Tip: Start your day off right: eat BREAKFAST. A well-rounded, healthy meal in the morning boosts your metabolism for the day which is what you need to be active. Not only that, but studies show that skipping breakfast can increase your body’s insulin response and result in storing fat and gaining weight. Always eat well-rounded meals and don't cut out any food groups.
