So happy to announce a new evening class starting Thursday Nov 7th - class time is 5:45 pm to 6:45 pm at the Okanagan School of Ballet ( right across from Seaton High School on 27th St.
This will be a six week session focusng on developing strength and improving range of motion in tight joints. This class is designed for all fitness levels.

THE REAL REASON YOUโ€™RE FEELING STIFF โ€“ AND HOW TO FIX IT โœ…๏ธ

Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds & supports every muscle, nerve, & organ in the body. As a three-dimensional, fibrous network of specialized "stretchy" tissue, fascia varies in texture & thickness throughout the body. It forms our largest uninterrupted system, interlacing every inch of us from head to toe. Without this internal scaffolding, weโ€™d collapse into a heap!

Keeping fascia flexible & healthy is essential for youthful movement & preventing stiffness. Fast movements can prevent hydration from reaching deep layers of fascia, which is essential for loosening the entire body. Connective tissue needs slow, deliberate movements to stay hydrated & maintain flexibility. Just as squeezing a damp sponge ๐Ÿงฝ moves moisture from one place to another, the act of stretching pushes fascial liquid from areas where it may have congealed, dispersing the fluids, keeping the tissue moist & pliable, & refreshing other neglected areas of our connective tissue that donโ€™t have adequate hydration.

We have 210 bones in our body and theyโ€™re not the dry, rigid structures you might be imagining. Bones are living tissue that actively respond to the forces we place (or donโ€™t place) on them. Picture a healthy tree branch: strong, yet flexible, swaying gracefully with the wind. It only snaps or breaks when an unreasonable stress is placed on it. Unhealthy bones are similar to unhealthy branches, breaking easily. Your bones react to exercise in much the same way. Exercise leads to increased bone strength. Lack of exercise leads to bone weakness.โ

Within our bodies is a honeycomb-like matrix that acts as a receptor to the minerals and crystals inside the walls of the bones.
