We had a fantastic opener for trophy walleye. one cabin posted 11 fish on our board with three 30 to 30 and 1/2 inches. This is a great start to the season. Plenty of eaters plus big fish. The weather has been cool but we are staring to warm up.

I know I have neglected face book. it is part of the scheme to avoid the computer and the changes of the world, I do not like change. It is not bad being old, but the world will not leave old people alone. Yes, we are still in business although Becky thinks they will carry me out of the lodge in a box, true. We have a bad time with our land line in the States so to email us is a safer way to get in touch with us. I did get the Christmas letters out the other day and you should be receiving them soon. Our family is doing fine but we lost our nephew of 41 years old this spring and a couple of close friends in Canada.

Thank you for all of you who came up last year, you always are kind to say I have not aged so you are good liars or have poor eye sight and I appreciate this! The biggest story in the lake is Tiger muskie, they are growing and for Tigers Canyon has become a destination spot, somewhere out there is a world record for length. Happy January to all and stay in side. We won! Yes, we have the worst road in Island Grove township, Gage County Nebraska. They had to bring in a pay loader for a mere 350 per hour to dig my old body out of the drifts. We has around 2 ft on the groud but the winds have helped us out by burying us. Good news tonight is we may set a record low, one that has been secure since 1888. Argh!

We are getting some calls and bookings for the summer, it is so good to think about the lake and not about winter. There is little snow up at camp so far in fact it rained on Christmas Eve at Vermilion Bay. I MISS THE LODGE! We are staying busy until this snow event that has been going on for over a week. I finished most of my outside projects but have plenty of wood to cut some day and a shops building to work on, 40X80ft metal building. The big news is that we put in a dam this season. It should be nice for fishing and a little cabin so I can hide in my old age. Let us know how you are doing, keep your stick on the ice, let a smile be your umbrella %*(&$^*) this winter. John

Well, I am alive and doing well. The heart issue is working out pretty well and I was able to do the work again last seson up at camp. New decks, new stairs and new steps and plaforms down to the dovk system. Becky was a little dissapointed that zi smde a comeback as she imagined retirement, but we are on again for next season. We have some fine neighbors and friends who come our rescue helping out on change over day and with other projects. OK here is the scoop. I have opening in May, one cabin open June 3-10 and one cabin open 10-17 and one cabin open 24-July 1st, the second week of muskie season. July is full already. I have a cabin August 5-12 and again August 26-Sept 2nd, after that we have room for fall bookings. Now, I have had two heart procedures since I saw you last. Stupid A-Fib problem but thanks to a good doctor I feel pretty good, but I expect you to be nicer to me this season. I am now the energizer bunny rabbit with electircal parts and an ablation. looking forward to the season, filling out many forms for the government, No restirctions so far on cover at the line but I still think eggs will not get through because of bird flu; Keep your stick on the ice. It's a long ways from Wyoming to Canyon, Scott's successful first Muskie catch and release. it has been interesting that I have been walleye shallow this fall instead of way down deep. Water temps are still around 70 on surface, Muskie remains really goo this year and smallmouth are big. I have NOT had extra time for whitefish this season, when you start late and are busy it is hard to catch up.

Nice walleye, catch and release, we have had a 29, and two 31's caught last week and all released for more to come. We are catching smaller fish on live bait at the present time, a bit larger on plastics and the largest are on large crankbaits in open water. keep fishing and GO Aaron.
