Day 3 began the same way Day 2 ended: with listening.
Through independent movement, we continued the conversation between our bodies, the exercises, and the equipment, all while wearing our imaginary corsets.
We explored the importance of arches (aka extension) and how thoughtful setup can help create the conditions for success.
We discussed that our role as Pilates teachers is not to give students all the answers, but to guide them into a deeper relationship with their own bodies. To help them build confidence, curiosity, and joy in movement.
The equipment, the exercises we choose and the environment we create can all help lead a body toward greater understanding.
Then came the best part: practicing on one another. Observing, guiding, assisting and stepping back to admire our work. Those moments when someone discovers something new for themselves are worth savouring.
Infinite thanks to Sandy Shimoda, for showing us just how high the bar can be when it comes to teaching, and for your belief that we are on the right path.
