Our Story

Bearwatch Systems Inc. is a Vancouver based company founded by two outdoor enthusiasts, Adrian and Veronika. We’ve spent many days, and nights, exploring the great outdoors that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. But, with high bear populations in our area, we found ourselves wishing we had some protection while sleeping in our tent at night. We wanted an economical, lightweight, but a

dequately powerful electric deterrent system to take with us on our adventures. So we developed Bearwatch to meet our requirements — designed for backpacking and exploring. Our Mission

Bearwatch is committed to making a positive contribution on the conservation efforts where humans share bear territories. We do this by providing hikers and campers with an additional layer of protection* when you are at your most vulnerable; asleep in your tent.

*Bearwatch system should be used in conjunction with all other precautions and diligence when exploring bear country.

Thank you to for giving me peace of mind while out in bear country this past week! Bears are eating 20,000 calories per day now, anywhere they can find it. Even with greatest bear protocol, there is no fail safe. Slept like a baby knowing I had extra protection with the Bear Watch system

The most epic backpacking trip near Vancouver!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stretching 20 kms from Cypress Bowl to Porteau Cove is the Howe Sound Crest Trail. The best time to tackle this overnighter is in late summer, so you have plenty of time to work up to this if you need to break yourself in.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The trail isn’t particularly dangerous but there are a few intimidating parts to tackle. Your efforts will be well rewarded though with these spectacular views.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don’t forget that this is bear country so make sure you’re
equipped with all the wildlife and bear safety precautions. Hands up, who’s encountered a bear on their hikes? 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️
