Cuban Salsa classes at Britannia Com. Centre start on January 19th!!!

As hard as it is to believe -since Carlos STILL doesn’t look a day older than 39 😜…-
2026 marks the 21st Anniversary of our Cuban Salsa program at Britannia Com. Centre.

Now, that is a heck of an achievement!

Back in 2005, a recently immigrated Cuban from Havana (with a very thick English accent coming out of his infectious big smile), approached the programmer at Britannia offering to teach Cuban Salsa and Rueda de Casino, for Vancouverites to learn not only the dance but also learn about his beloved Cuban culture; learn about the people, the traditions, the hardships and the strength and resilience of his people.

Fast forward to 2026, and we can proudly say that Carlos is a well-known and respected member of the Vancouver community.
Many, many students have taken his classes  throughout the span of all these years.

He has forged many friendships, a lifetime partner ❤️ (Carlos and Sara first met on Commercial Drive!), and countless memories of fun stories to relate.

In a couple of weeks YOU can also be a part of this evolving story.
We have classes for all levels: Beginner, Level 1, Intermediate and Advanced.

Aside from teaching, Carlos is a renowned DJ.

With that comes an explosive COMBO!

Not only will you have A LOT OF FUN at our classes; you can catch Carlos playing at our monthly Fiesta Habana parties on the second Saturday of every month; at Mangos Kitchen Bar EVERY Friday of the YEAR, as well as numerous other events throughout the city...

CUBAN SALSA IS A WAY OF LIVING LIFE!!!

You will laugh, you will learn, you will keep in shape, you will make new friends...

What an amazing end of the year party we had last night at the last Fiesta Habana of 2025!!!

Thank you to all our students for attending our classes at Britannia Com. Centre, to our friends, past and current students, thank you for your continued support.

Every year we are amazed at the generosity, dedication, support, commitment, engagement and thrive each of you has for our culture.

The Cuban Salsa community is thriving and we are so happy to continue to feed to it, as we have for so many years. It has rained a lot since I first started teaching in Vancouver back in 2005 (and it rains A LOT in this city…)
Today, 20 years later, I am so joyed to see where Vancouver is at with its Cuban Salsa community.

My wish for 2026 is to continue to see the growth.
For that, we will continue to teach our classes at Britannia Com. Centre, and we will host our monthly social parties Fiesta Habana, as we embark on our 14th Anniversary hosting this event.
