This structure brings together community sport, recreation, physical activity and health leaders from within each region to establish committees, set priorities and create annual plans for advancing sport, physical activity and recreation programs and initiatives in their area. We at Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council celebrate National Coaches Week, it's an annual recognition that takes place across Canada from September 14โ€“20, 2026, celebrating the positive impact coaches have on athletes and communities.

Free virtual NCCP - Basic Mental Skills coach development, please note space is limited to 12 people.

Virtual Basic Mental Skills: Sept 16 & 17, 2026. 10am to 1pm.

The goal of the NCCP Basic Mental Skills module is to support coaches and youth leaders in developing mental skills in their day-to-day practice as a coach or youth leader. This module provides an overview to mental skill development and application.

Learning Outcomes
Integrate mental-preparation strategies into practices
Help participants be mentally prepared for competition

Training for the NCCP Basic Mental Skills module covers 6 topics:
Introduction
Basic mental skills
Developing and maintaining focus
Setting goals
Planning for mental skill development
Conclusion
