Each breath since

floating
in the dream
outside my head.
I gather
the balloon strings
until I feel it pop.
The tear
that burns
in the fire
and the steam
that gives me form,
creates this reality

Villain and victim,

Within traditional Chinese medicine, the summer season corresponds with two additional organ systems that play supporting roles in the balance and maintenance of the fire element in the body. These are the pericardium and the triple burner, which Western medicine does not consider to be organs.

The pericardium is the protective membrane that surrounds and protects the heart. And the triple burner, refers to the upper, middle and lower burners or areas in the body. Each burner integrates the organ systems within its area.

Both the pericardium and the triple burner energetic systems play roles in the regulation and circulation of warmth in the body along the meridians of both arms.

In terms of summer heat, ☀️ I thought Triple Burner 5 or TB5 point would be a good point to get to know as it is a very important point in Chinese medicine and is used to expel wind-heat in fever, chills, sore throat and light sweating.

TB5 is also used for pain in the arm, shoulder and neck. It is also an important point in the treatment of migraine and for treating all rheumatic diseases.

TB 5 is also commonly used for certain types of headaches. Although its use is vast, it is also used for regulating the menstrual cycle and painful periods. It can also have an incredible effect on any type of musculoskeletal pain involving rotation.

I bring the knowledge of all these modalities and weave together a modern, intelligent and more sophisticated view of the original Pilates repertoire. I’ve been teaching this Mat Pilates Teacher Training Certification through Physicalmind Institute Canada for 22 years. My knowledge of the Pilates work is integrated and expansive. This 60-hour Pilates Mat Teacher Training Certification prepares students to teach mat classes of all levels. This workshop is the prerequisite for the Pilates Apparatus Certification.

As we are now in the summer/heart/fire season according to Chinese medicine, we might be feeling a little overheated with the higher temperatures outside.

The heart ♥️ gets uncomfortable with excess heat, as it builds up pressure. The heart might already have emotional pressure of anxiety and shame etc., so this fire shaking exercise can be great for releasing heat and emotional stress from the three dantiens. At the same time, this movement feels as though it’s also fanning the fire, if you need to light up your spark. 🔥 Enjoy!
