EAXPLAINED here

When I went through period recovery my binge patterns developed pretty fast. I went into this “f**k it mode” aka thinking black and white and just ate everything because why not? I need to get my period back so the more I eat the better right?

WRONGGG

OMG do I wish I did that differently (which I teach my client how to avoid my mistakes because of this)

I had developed more emotional eating and stress eating even after I was well fed, period was regular, because my new coping mechanism for avoiding my feelings was FOOOOD

And I wish I knew that these 4 things were preventing my recovery:

Continuing to try and diet - under eating was a main reason the binge urges came on so much and so strong so when I switched to eating at maintenance the binge urges and food noise started to quiet ENOUGH for me to create new coping habits

I started shifting my belief from “im a binge eater” to “I binge eat but im not a binge eater” shifting that belief allowed me to view it as a thing I was working on not something I was and can never overcome

STOP WATCHING FOOD VIDEOS HOLYY CRAP I would watch 10k cal challenges, food videos, WIEIAD all the time and you know what that did? Made me think about food all the time now my algorithm is Weiner dog memes hehe is that a great use of my time? Leave me alone ok I like it

STOP AVOIDING YOUR HUNGER it makes you view it as some kind of problem so rather than drinking water instead of eating the cookie or chewing gum instead of eating the cookie - eat the cookie and move on

The first 2 weeks are euphoric

You start eating more, maybe reduce some intensity, and you’re feeling like you’re on the right path to get your period back! Only to realize that a few weeks later that wasn’t enough to really do anything in terms of progress

The first time I tried to get my period back the changes I made were as follows and I felt great about them

➡️ I started eating breakfast
➡️ I ate more in general
➡️ I transitioned to low intense cardio

And nothing fu***ng happened 🤑

So I got frustrated 😩

I realized that the changes I was comfortable with wasn’t enough to get my period back and that euphoria turned into fear.

Fear of how much I’d have to gain
Fear of how others would perceive me
Fear of losing my fitness

Just a lot of fear 😰

Here’s the thing with fear though, it’s not always a sign you’re doing the wrong thing it’s often a sign of what you need to work on.

Underneath all that fear was one common theme: I didn’t feel like I was enough unless I performed for other people and they thought I was worthy.

That’s a pretty weak leg to stand on hence my weak ex*****on of recovery

Reality is recovery is going to show you side of yourself that you don’t like and you’ll have to change.

Doesn’t mean you’re a bad person, just means we need to grow
