The days are getting shorter as summer comes to a close. Are you planning your sessions accordingly? If you are out much past sunset, lights are required by law and a gate key (available at the JSCA office) is a good idea. The compound gates are locked up at sunset.

This weekend Jericho will be hosting both the Vancouver SUP challenge (Saturday) and the BC Tasar Championships (Saturday and Sunday). Both events tend to produce exciting mark roundings and should provide some entertaining viewing from the patio. Scroll through for action from previous years' events.

Parks Canada is hosting a FREE Wildlife Safety 101 workshop at the Jericho Sailing Centre on Wednesday August 26th. If you spend any time in the mountains or the woods, this is a worthwhile course to take.

Join Parks Canada and WildSafeBC for a FREE Wildlife Safety 101 workshop and learn how to reduce risks in wildlife country, including how to safely use bear spray.

We were lucky to have seven Martin 16s from Adaptive Sailing Association of British Columbia - ASABC on our race course for Sunday racing today.

Winds were initially light with a strong flood tide creating a challenge at first. But the wind built steadily and the racing was really close. After five races, the top two boats ended up separated by only one point with third place only three points behind second place. Gerry Burns won the day with bullets in the last three races, with Andrew Davis right behind. Some of those finishes were separated by only a few seconds. Tight racing is always so entertaining to watch.
