Rhythm City Mess Around 2026 (RCMA) is right around the corner, but first, we return to Thursday dancing with the Pre-RCMA party with Dean Thiessen and the Good Apples at Rhythm City Strut!

For those of you without RCMA weekend passes, there will be limited space available at every evening dance.
Friday: DJs Bailey McCully and Johann De Guzman (featuring the Switch Strictly comp).
Saturday and Sunday feature the incredible Bonnie Northgraves Sextet! And Saturday we have Julia Franta on band breaks and the Solo Jazz and Mix & Match prelims; Sunday Lionel Ackiana takes the band breaks, and we have the Solo Jazz and Mix & Match finals!

So excited to welcome Enya Graham-Shewish () as Emcee at this year's RCMA!

She brings years of experience as a Master of Ceremonies, as well as rich involvement in dance, acrobatics, podcasting, public speaking, and so much more! I can't wait to have her bring her voice and vibe to our evening dances!

Rhythm City Mess Around 2026 (RCMA) update! All tracks are close to full. We are going to have an incredible party at the end of summer. And the track booster session has been scheduled:

3-5pm at the Russian Hall

You can sign up by editing your RCMA booking (booster available only to RCMA full weekend registrants).

See you there, or at the pre-RCMA dance, Thursday, September 3, when we return to St Mike's with Dean Thiessen's Good Apples!

Rhythm City Mess Around 2026 (RCMA) opened half an hour ago, and the event is over half sold out already.

This community, this dance scene: you all are the reason I run this event and weekly dances and classes. Your enthusiasm and joy for the dance, for getting together and learning and playing, watching out for each other on the dance floor, asking amazing questions in class... these are the fuel that keeps the fire burning.

But on top of that, you make the choice, when you look at a list of price options for an event like RCMA, where you can freely choose any price, and you see the value of not only the event itself but also of paying more than the minimum, because this not only makes the event possible, but also makes it possible for others to pay a lower amount.

And you sign up to volunteer, and help make the event run smoothly.

There's still so much more to do before we open the doors on Friday evening in September, but I wanted to thank you now for the inspiration that will help keep me on track.

Rhythm City Mess Around 2026 (RCMA) registration opens in 23 hrs!

Sad news in our dance community: we have lost a delightful dancer, student, and friend. Benjamin Pollack passed unexpectedly earlier this month. He was an eager student, a positive and supportive member of the community, and a good friend to many.

His celebration of life is tomorrow, Saturday July 11 at noon at the Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret in Mount Pleasant. See link in comments for details. You can also add a memory of Benjamin, on that page.

Thanks for the dances, Ben. You will be greatly missed. ❤️
