We are a student-led & semi-competitive dragon boat team representing Simon Fraser University
⚡️🌊 🐲

Based in Vancouver, BC, Canada SFU Shockwave is a Simon Fraser University Student Society club. We aim to promote the sport of dragon boat paddling in a fun and inclusive environment where everyone is able to learn and develop new and existing skills. We welcome novice paddlers and experienced paddlers alike to join any of our teams. Our goal is to train and prepare paddlers to eventually compete

at the highest levels of dragon boat while at the same time offer programs to introduce this fast growing sport to beginners and those that wish to paddle recreationally. We are a fun-loving and welcoming bunch, paddling with us is the ultimate way to experience this amazing sport and to meet new friends.

🍩 PRICE: $2 per donut, $16 per dozen ($15 if you pay in cash 👀 )

Last Sunday, SFU Shockwave walked with Dragon Boat BC at the annual Chinatown Spring Festival Parade to celebrate the Lunar New Year! 🏮

Our paddlers were proud flag bearers and handed out red envelopes to parade bystanders! Thank you for inviting us 🫶

Despite the weather threatening to rain on our parade, we ended the season with a bang 💥 at the Fall Classic 🔥🔥
Shockwave placed 🥈 in Mixed C Division with a time of 00:54.34 and pushed beyond our limits in the Guts and Glory with a time of 12:57:97‼️🤩

Congratulations to 🥇Max Storm, 🥉, , DH Motley Crew, Creakside Dragons, , and Fire Dragons for a well-fought for final race 💪

Although the season is officially over, we’re not done yet! Keep a look out for any upcoming posts 🫡

Shockwave’s going UP UP UP at Harrison‼️🤩 We’re so proud to share we placed third in Mixed C division!🥉

Our weekend consisted of paddling in fresh water, wild winds, sunshine, and sandy chaos 🏝️🤧

Paddles up, we left it all on the water 💥🔥

We brought the energy to the water and crushed it at the Concord Pacific Dragon Boat Festival on June 21-22. We placed 4th in E Division with a time of 2:21.45.
Congratulations to .burn what a great final race!

Thank you to everyone who cheered us on and raced beside us, see you at the next starting line at Harrison! 🐉🚣‍♂️💪 Huge shoutout to our coaches, captains, and every teammate who brought the fire (and snacks 😅)

And the countdown to the biggest festival of the year begins! You can catch us at the Concord Dragon Boat festival this weekend, July 21-22. We are hoping for sunshine ☀️ (But don't worry, the rain won't stop us 😉🌧️)

Did you know that this is North America’s BIGGEST dragon boat festival? ✨🐉There’s cultural pavilions, and the city’s biggest outdoor local vendor market. There's a food truck festival and pop-up surprise performances!

We can’t wait to see everyone there!
