Most people notice a nagging ache or a tight shoulder and just push through it. They don’t realize they are building fitness on top of broken mechanics.

Look at Marleena’s journey since her first assessment on March 16th.

On day one, we tested her Wall Angels. Her right side was moving smoothly, hitting a full 90 degrees of external rotation. But her left side hit a hard mechanical wall at just 55 degrees, forcing her left shoulder to shrug upward by 20 degrees to cheat the movement.

If she kept training or playing racket sports on top of that 35-degree deficit, severe joint impingement or a rotator cuff tear wasn’t a possibility it would be a-guarantee.

Marleena knew she couldn’t ignore the data. She committed to her fitness journey and began working on her mobility drills independently.

Fast forward to June 11th. To see if her independent work was paying off, we changed the angle. We pivoted from the Wall Angel to Wall Shoulder “Ls” - pinning her elbows to her ribs and locking her spine flat against the wall. This new angle stripped away her ability to cheat with that upper trap shrug and gave us a completely isolated view of the joint.

She was moving with much better control, but her nervous system was still keeping the brakes on to protect the shoulder.

That is where precision coaching comes in.

I knew we needed to hack her brain’s protective locking mechanism. Using a specialized PNF contract-relax technique, I had her apply light pressure against my hand and then release.

By changing the angle and using neurological feedback, her brain finally felt safe enough to let go. We instantly unlocked an extra 15 degrees of clean, uncompensated joint space—pushing her up to 70–75 degrees of pure external rotation.
Real rehab isn’t a quick-fix gimmick. It is a systematic process of rewriting your movement blueprint degree by degree.

Huge shoutout to Marleena for locking in, doing the work, and protecting her long-term performance!

This is the standard inside FIGHTERFITX and The Day One Den.

OMG! My family sent me this video of the doggies! I get to see them soon. I got teary eyed 🥹lol. Way to go CAY9cayman!

The video delivers a powerful reminder about blocking out external noise and reclaiming your narrative. It highlights how people will always view you through their own lens whether they see competition, inspiration, success, or failure.

Ultimately, the message drives home the truth that the world’s shifting opinions do not define you; the only assessment that genuinely matters is your own when you look in the mirror at the end of the day.

Everyone sees a different version of you.
Some admire you. Some hope you fail.
Some see an example. Some see competition.
Some think you’re doing great. Some think you’re a loser.
Some remember your past. Few know your present.
In the end, only one opinion matters... yours.

For far too long, I was consumed by how others portrayed me, trapped by their judgment and the boxes they placed me in.

If I could talk to my younger self, I would stress the vital importance of self-love, self-acceptance, and self-empowerment. The world’s viewpoint will always fluctuate in uncomfortable ways.

The only things you can truly control are your daily actions, thoughts, and aspirations.

If this resonates, give yourself the grace and kindness you deserve today.

See you inside the DEN.

Part two

What if she chose to ignore it?

Leaving a 35-degree movement deficit unchanged is an expensive mistake. If Marleena had skipped the analysis and just kept training on top of those broken mechanics - or kept playing a repetitive racket sport - here is exactly what that future version of her would look like a few months down the road:

The Joint Debt: Every time she reached overhead, her shoulder would hit that structural wall at 55 degrees. To force the movement, her body would keep stealing range from her lower back and neck.

The Breakdown: Within months, that constant friction turns into subacromial impingement (a sharp, pinching pain when putting on a jacket or reaching into the backseat).

The Sidelines: Eventually, the rotator cuff suffers micro-tears, chronic neck strain locks up, and the deep, dull ache starts ruining her sleep. The sport she loves is no longer an option—she is forced to sit on the sidelines.

That is why we do what we do. Huge shoutout to Marleena for committing to her fitness journey, facing the data, and doing exactly what it takes to recover her shoulder the right way instead of waiting for the injury to force her to stop.

Most people are training on top of dysfunction, wondering why their progress is stalled or why their joints constantly ache.

They think they just need to work harder. The truth? Hard work means nothing if your mechanics are broken.

Look at this assessment video from March 16th. This is Marleena’s first wall angel check.

On her right side, she hits a clean 90 degrees of external rotation. Her wrist and elbow are flush against the wall. But look at the left side. She hits a hard mechanical wall at around 55 degrees. That is a massive 35-degree deficit in mobility.

When you lack that range of movement, your body doesn’t just stop. It cheats. To force the movement, her left shoulder shrugs upward by 20 degrees, calling in the upper trapezius to do a job it was never meant to do.

If you load a shoulder that is already compensating like this, injury isn’t a possibility. It is an inevitability. You cannot unlock your true performance potential when your joint movement is locked down.

This is exactly what separates standard personal training from FIGHTERFITX and our work inside The Day One Den.

From a single 30-second video clip, we extract:
The exact angular results and performance deficits.
The specific areas of concern (glenohumeral restriction).
The hidden physiological reasons why it is happening (overactive internal rotators).

The precise, custom exercise protocols to implement immediately to fix it.

True mastery starts on Day One by identifying exactly where your movement is limited, stopping the compensation patterns, and building a bulletproof foundation from the ground up.

Stop training around your blind spots. Fix the source.

For the past couple of years, I’ve been attending Shanda’s online webinars and summits. But today marks a shift. This is the first time I am officially putting in the work she asked of us and stepping completely out of my comfort zone.
I can’t express enough gratitude for her unique approach to business coaching—even though she doesn’t call it that.

To see what true coaching looks like when it comes from a place of genuinely working from the heart is incredibly inspiring. This isn’t about bragging, boasting, or belittling other up-and-coming coaches in the field.

It’s about showing the true north of coaching from the soul. Thank you, Shanda, for pushing us.

In the video I just recorded, I broke down the core philosophy behind my own work at FighterFitX and the Day One Den. The reality is that most people don’t have a weight loss problem; they have a system glitch and a power drain.

When your body spends all its daily energy fighting structural misalignments and restricted movement patterns, it forces you into a survival state that stalls your metabolism and drains your focus.

True high performance is about reclaiming physical sovereignty and control over your posture.

Over the last two decades, my focus has been on deleting those technical movement glitches so professionals can naturally drop weight and double their energy output without ever touching a generic cardio machine.

Before diving into high-impact training like power snatches or marathon prep, we have to look at the data.

By using 3D movement and video analysis, we uncover the hidden mechanical leaks, like hip or ankle misalignments, to strengthen the core musculature and build a highly resilient, high-output engine.

True fitness solutions must be backed by real sports science standards, like NASM and ACSM, to help people reclaim their power on the court, in the boardroom, and in their family circles.

Stepping up and sharing this is exactly what it means to build from the heart. Let’s keep pushing the baseline.

thank you

🛡️ MUSCLES ARE THE GUARDIANS OF OUR YOUTH

“Muscles are the guardians of our youth. We need our muscles for strength, movement, the burning of calories, energy, and the maintenance of our body’s shape. When muscles are locked in a state of permanent tension due to atrophy, poor posture, over building, or poor alignment, we refer to that as a state of permanent stress or distress! Permanent tension reflects unbalanced muscles, which are the leading cause of chronic pain, damaged joints and disease.” — Miranda Esmonde-White

When your body is locked in a state of chronic physical tension, your entire operating system suffers. True structural integrity isn’t just about standard fitness aesthetics; it is about balance, biomechanics, and alignment.

At FIGHTERFITX, we do things differently. We build our clients from the inside out.

We look at the data, the movement patterns, and the mechanics to ensure you can age gracefully and permanently reclaim your strength.

Optimizing your body is a strategic investment in your life. When you restore your physical capacity, you earn the energy required to be the absolute best version of yourself: the visionary industry leader, the resilient family and friend role model, and the dedicated community partner you need to be.

Stop settling for permanent physical stress. Reclaim your movement.

🔥 Biomechanics in Action: From Flat 5Ks to Mountain Verticals 🏔️

Had an incredible session today tracking data for a past client turned running partner! We clocked a solid 5.04 km loop around False Creek in 39:21 - a massive 40-minute continuous dynamic load, but she was definitely feeling the fatigue by the end! Verbatim from her: “I’m tired!” 😂

We pulled up a video clip to closely analyze her gait from the front and back, and found some critical structural patterns that most trainers completely miss:

The Cushion Compensation: She’s wearing highly cushioned shoes (Hokas) with a thick stack height. While great for impact absorption, that thick foam reduces natural ground-feel (proprioception), forcing her ankle stabilizing muscles to work twice as hard to maintain lateral control.

Heavy Heel-Striking: She is utilizing a pronounced heel-to-toe strike pattern, landing with her foot extended far out in front of her center of mass. This creates a massive braking force that travels straight up the skeletal system.

Ankle Overpronation & Knee Valgus: Upon that heel strike, her ankle visibly rolls inward (overpronates) - especially on the left side. Because the ankle collapses, the kinetic chain follows, causing a minor inward collapse of the knee (knee valgus) due to a lack of eccentric control at the hip.

⚠️ Why Leaving This Unnoticed Wrecks Your Progress
If you don’t address these underlying mechanics, it’s a ticking time bomb for both her city street runs and her gains in the gym:

On the Asphalt: Repetitive, uncorrected overpronation and heel-striking under fatiguing 40-minute loads lead straight to shin splints, plantar fasciitis, and patellofemoral knee pain.

In the Gym: If her brain defaults to letting the ankles collapse and knees cave under fatigue, that bad pattern transfers directly to her heavy squats, lunges, and deadlifts. It limits her power output, leaks force, and stops her from building maximum strength in her glutes and legs because the joint alignment is compromised.
