UBC Triathlon invites anyone to practice with us for the rest of September!

Each week we will be virtually sharing two swim workouts, one run workout, one track workout, one spin interval workout and one long ride workout. Do as many or as few as you would like! We will also try to coordinate some training groups or meeting times.

Happy New Year everyone! All practices pick back up full gear today, January 6th.

Our term 2 schedule is as follows:

Monday/Wednesday Swims 8:30-9:30pm at the UBC aquatic centre
Tuesday/Thursday runs 5pm from our office room 3206D in the Nest (post run gym session at the birdcoop)
Friday Spins 5-7pm in the nest
Saturday rest
Sunday Long run leaving from our office when posted in this page

Swims fees will be due Jan 24th and this term we will only be offering twice a week for $120. Membership is $30 for students and $45 for non-students. See you at practice!

Hello everyone!

I hope you’ve all been enjoying these two weeks of trial workouts. On behalf of the Exec Team, I can tell you we’ve been having a great time with you and appreciate you coming!

It’s time for me to bother you with the fees and payments. These are all due by next Wednesday, Oct. 2.You will not be allowed in the pool if we haven’t received them, sorry:(

The Membership Fee is going to be $30 for students and $45 for non-students. Here is what that gets you:

· Long runs prepared by our VP Athletics: Connor. (Tuesdays, 5PM)
· Longer runs brought to you by VP Long Distance: Minura (Sunday mornings)
· Interval sessions thought though by our VP Track: Reza (Thurdays, 5PM)
These friendly VPs have experience with training, racing and pacing.
· Spin sessions run by our President: Jasmine. (Fridays)
Spins include the trainers and equipment, but you need your own bike.
· Lastly, awesome seasonal discounts by our supporters (including Lululemon)

The swimming fee is set at $140 for twice a week and $80 for once a week. You get:

· 25 hours of swimming (for the twice a week option. Cost p/session of $5.60!)
· Detailing and planned sessions with our coach Ximena.
· Triathlon Club-exclusive 50m lanes.
· Swims are Mondays and Wednesdays at 7PM.

How to pay? Any Exec will be receiving cash (or check if you use those) until the deadline, so just come find us!

Hello Everyone! I know what you are thinking - please stop annoying me about exercising (eyes roll). Just kidding, I know you wanna know what's up with the tri club!

Some important information for the rest of September:
1) Social dinner at Koerner's Pub September 27th 6pm to vibe with the new crew

2) Cycling will move indoors on Friday mornings from 8-10am in the nest room 2314 due to the rainy Vancouver weather. You must have your own bike to participate. Sign up will be first come first serve on a google form that will be sent out soon. Hopefully we will organize impromptu outdoor rides on days that weather permits. We also may add a gym session on Friday evenings depending on interest.

3) FEES!!! Sorry, not trying to scare you by screaming... We will be collecting fees from here on out, starting tomorrow and on thursday during club days in the lower nest from 11am-3:30pm, or at any of our practices. Pay in cash or by cheque until the end of September. After October 1st, those who have not paid membership fees will not be able to participate until paid. Currently we are collecting the year-long membership fees of $30 for students, and $45 for non students. Refer to previous emails for the benefits :) When you pay, please indicate if you are planning on swimming so we can calculate the cost of the swims. 2 swims a week will likely be between $110-160 for the term (25 coached swims). We will also start selling team apparel that we have in stock, just let us know if you are interested! ** If you are new on the email list or have missed previous emails, please let me know so I can update you.

4) I have been hearing many people ask about buying bikes - I will be organizing a club bike shop at a few bike shops within walking distance that sell well priced new and used bikes. Please let me know if you are interested in this. I can also help with anyone looking on Craigslist or something of the like to see if you are getting a decent bike at a fair price.

Hi Folks,

This Sunday, (Sep 8 ), we will start training for the Fall Classic Half Marathon held at the end of October. As such, this training session is geared towards runners who are already fairly experienced and can comfortably run 10k.

The route is a simple out and back along NW Marine Drive on the sidewalk for about 80 minutes. Since we will have people running at different paces, we will aim to run 40 minutes out and then turn back rather that aiming for a fixed distance for everyone.

Start time is at 8:30 AM at the club office 3206D in the nest.

If you think this run may be too long for you, be sure to come for our Tuesday medium distance sessions when we usually do around 5K.
