Poetic Justice

Poetic Justice Poetic Justice is a reading series that showcases emerging and established poets of merit. Do come and join us for some fine poetry.

Our venue is the Central Branch of the Vancouver Public Library where we host readings on the second Sunday of every even-numbered month (Oct, Dec, Feb, etc.) Poetic Justice is a long-running poetry reading series where both emerging and established poets get invited to our microphone to share their published (or soon-to-be-published) work. The series is a warm and welcoming harbour for those who

write as well as those who appreciate poetry. Founded in 2010, our mandate is to give poets a forum to deliver and promote their writing. We give all poetry as much exposure as we can, particularly the work of talented poets of merit. Speaking into a microphone in front of a live audience can be unnerving for some -- even for established writers. But our forum is a safe and supportive venue where only a handful of presenters have been pelted with tomatoes. Joking aside, we want to help raise the profile of poets who struggle to make a living from their art. Our gatherings are convivial, and hooting and hollering are encouraged. Our current venue is the Central Branch of the Vancouver Public Library and readings are on the second Sunday of each even-numbered month. We promise we won't throw tomatoes!
