COME SKATE WITH US ON MONDAY!
We’ve been on a 2 year break but we are stoked to skate with new and old faces!
This Monday we will be at Chuck Bailey skate park in Surrey. Bring your water, bring some snacks, bring your gear, and join us for a well-needed skate sesh together!
There is a flat skate space for folks who are working their way towards park skating to join.
See you Monday!

Raise your hand if you love a good roller skate resource (emoji with glasses, hand raising emoji)! Well guess what?! Reconstruction of the CIB Tricktionary has begun. Our goal for this revision is to make a roller skate-specific resource that is more informative, comprehensive and visually appealing than ever. We’ve divided the revision process into three phases and as we roll it out we are going to need input from our CIB Community, you! Get your kettle out and your snacks ready because the and have teamed up for this edition of Coffee In Bowls!
Monday, November 29th @ 6pm PST [Nov 30th @ 3pm NZT] live on the CIB YouTube channel. 
Tune in with .skate.hag     and our Spanish-English translator Susan B Anthony] who have all graciously come together to share their thoughts and experiences they have had in the skate community and beyond, as well as discuss decolonizing & indigenizing skate spaces in hopes of shedding light and inspiring necessary change.
We will have also an open Q&A in our stories TODAY and a couple days ahead of the event and will be sending your questions to this panel to be answered anonymously during the live!

Kia Ora. Today is Indigenous Peoples Day. While acknowledging the land that we are living and skating on is an important start, there is a lot that needs to be done to decolonize and indigenize roller skating.
CIBCrew and all of us have a lot of work to do. Today we will be taking a break from sharing skating content to share resources in our stories on land back, decolonization, and indigenization, as well as to celebrate Indigenous creators.
We want to acknowledge that this is not enough, and this goes far beyond an individual day and is something that all of us should be working towards every single day.
CIB Crew’s headquarters are based in Tāmaki Makaurau in Aotearoa the tangata whenua iwi is Ngāti Whātua.

VD: I drop into a cement bowl with pool coping and do a handstand on the opposite deck. Lanna drops in and does a backside slide right accross me. There is cheering and high-fiving after we nail it.

Next up we have Hal (they/them/theirs) AKA .fist902 .
I’m Hal, I’m a white, disabled, non-binary skater who first laced up around 2012. I have been part of CIB chapters in Nova Scotia and BC since 2014 (?) and I am currently living and skating as an uninvited settler on the stolen and unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh, and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm Nations.
My local and favourite skatepark is Hastings. I love skating big bowls, and street skating on wild and strange terrain.

“I've been part of the Vancouver skate community for some time now, having started in Roller Derby in it's height many years ago and then transitioning into park skating. I love getting outdoors to skate whether it be jumping objects in skateparks or blasting around Vancouver's iconic Seawall. Having come from an island nation, my favourite places to skate are always near the ocean, and I'm very lucky to have skated around the world. The two places that top my list are the Barceloneta in Barcelona, Spain, and Venice Beach, California. “

We are taking some time to introduce you all to our incredible team of admins. If you see us around please say hi!
First up we have AKA Lex (she/her/hers).

“My names alexis but most people just call me bruized! Im from Calgary Alberta, now living in Vancouver BC .
Ive been skating for almost 10 years, picking up dance and park skating along the way.
When im not helping run Vancouvers local CIB chapter Im working at a local inline skate shop which has led to me exploring more ways to roll around in my free time or you can find me rolling around in local BC skateparks on the lands of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Musqueam Nations.”
