Last weekend it was time for the annual Burnwater Spring Sprint!

The weather was perfect and no big boats crashed the course this year!

New this year, the race format was three 200m races per team. Paddling to be positioned in the Women’s Division A Final, in what was almost a photo finish, the team brought home the bronze!! 💪

A great day was had by all at the Inlet Spring Regatta 2026. Athletes paddled in four 200m sprints over the course of the day.

The FC Masters ended the day paddling hard through the Women’s Kingfisher Division A final, to bring home the silver “woodle” medal (icon of the Inlet Spring Regatta).

Bonus - this year’s regatta didn’t have any unexpected delays and we had lots of water to paddle in!

Last weekend brought with it our first set of time trials and first paddle camp of the year!

Day 1 started with our sprint time trials - pairs format, followed by paddling, video review, and more paddling that incorporated our feedback.

Day 2 kicked off with our 2K time trials followed by two paddle camp sessions.

It was a busy weekend with lots of personal bests being achieved and everyone inspired to push ourselves even more.

The 2026 Lotus Icebreaker race took place Jan 31st. This annual race is held at Barnet Marine Park, with paddlers racing for 5km in two OC6s rigged together as one double-hulled canoe (V12).

It was a soggy but mild race day. The FCM had two teams entered in the races. The FCM Butterflies, our novice team, finished in 29:27. The more experienced FCM Flutterbys finished in 29:00. Whether first time racer or experienced competitor, all of our FCM crew paddled hard and raced well!

OC6 is part of our winter cross training and we also have a team of six going to Singapore for the International Va’a Federation (IVF) World Sprints Championships in mid August. Then they will join the rest of the FCM in Taiwan for the 15th IDBF Club Crew World Championships.

As we continue to train for our upcoming World competitions, our next local race is March Madness, March 28 - 29. See you there!
