A truly proud and moving day for our community.
This morning, on behalf of the SCIA Board and the Syrian-Canadian community across British Columbia, I had the honour of presenting a Certificate of Appreciation for the Right Honourable Prime Minister of Canada, entrusted to MP Zoë Royer for delivery on our behalf.
This certificate carries more than words on a page. It carries the gratitude of every Syrian-Canadian family who has felt welcomed by this country, the hope of those still finding their footing here, and the quiet promise of a community that intends to give back to Canada as generously as Canada has given to us.
Our journey has not been an easy one, but standing in that office today — between two Canadian flags, holding a certificate that our community had prepared with love — I felt the weight of how far we have come, and the beauty of where we are heading.
Thank you, MP Royer, for your continued kindness, your personal support, and for standing with our community every step of the way. Your warmth today meant a great deal to all of us at SCIA.
To my community — this moment belongs to all of you. What we are building, we are building together.
