Ok so here’s the story.
A few days ago, excruciating pain at the base of my neck took me to the Verdun hospital which was USELESS.
Then my nurse sister-in-law insisted I go to the Jewish hospital, which is a state of the art learning hospital.
Wow, what a good choice. I mean yeah, a long wait but an immediate visit with the neurosurgeon, which led me immediately to the ICU, which then dawdled its way to the OR.
I was NOT fully sedated so could eavesdrop on the surgeons’ chatter the last 5 minutes.
They were all *lovely* by the way.
Today was just the preliminary surgery to drain the water buildup. Real surgery will be on Friday (not Sunday, as stated in the video). They will shave part of my head, drill 6 holes into my skull, excise the tumor and see me back together.
Egads!!!
They’re not consciously “compassionate inquiry” types à la Gabor Mate, but everybody’s kind and attentive demeanour is surely contributing to the recuperation.
