Wow! What a weekend!
Hopefully this isn’t a slo pitch tournament that only happens once every century in Val Marie, but if it is, at least it was one to remember!
Would like to start again by thanking all the teams that entered. It was great to see the support. Lots of laughs, cheers, good hits and nice catches made. Some great commaraderie out there, with some friendly jabs and chirps. It looked like everyone had a great time!
We had a real barn burner of an A final. Went the distance and required an extra inning. When the dust settled, the Cashton Carleton team emerged as the Centennial Champions over the Lebel team. Was a great final to watch.
The Orkney Championship was won by the Tristen Sulz team. A family team with a few Legaults and a couple other local players, topped the Jacob Duquette team. Thanks again for providing some exciting ball!
The Hillandale Championship was won by Wyatt Mitchell. The Beaver Valley Championship was won by Rhett Poppy.
Consolation winners were Jessie Grant in the hillandale side, and The Park Squad on the beaver valley side.
Hats off to the teams of paige Hayes/dan Glas, Beau Larson, Whitney Booth and the in-laws and outlaws (Syrenne family) for coming out as well. Great people all around on those teams!
Big shout out, again, to Matthew Palaschak of Matt’s Construction for donating the light plants for Friday nights games. Had lots of people commenting on how awesome it was to have the night games. Added a very cool element to the tournament.
Congratulations to the Centennial Committee for putting on such a tremendous weekend. The atmosphere was incredible, and even with the extreme heat, people were having a great time. Such a special weekend!
And lastly, thank you and congratulations to the Val Marie community. Proud to call this place home.
All the best,
Val Marie Lions Club
