It is with profound sadness and greatfullness we must say good bye to Greg Knowles.

You have been a part of the wind community as long as I can remember and your contributions have impacted so many.

Thank you for your dedication to understanding our loved wind sports. Your guidance in the repair industry (an industry with out standards or training) and developed techniques have ensured many happy hours of water time to be had by so many. I will continue to develope our processes and fall back on my training with you for years to come. I look forward to teaching the next to come after me and the foundation will be because of you Greg.

Greg developed many repair techniques and with his back ground in engineering was able to guarantee the quality and dependability of many repairs. What started as kite repairs also bled over to dry suit repairs, then came the super fabrics like Aluula, Greg did the first ever Aluula repairs and even helped write the Aluula repair manual.

Greg was also one to share his knowledge freely with others, helping us understand why one kite did this or why one kite does that. His tips were also centered around safety, he was always concerned that fun was had in a safe manor and ensuring access at the beach for us all.

From here forward I will be referring to Comox Spit as Greg's beach. This spot close to his home was his most frequented kite and wing spot. With a kite repair business at home and flexible hours (no work on a 20kt day, or at least some work after a session) he spent more days on the water than anyone else I know. I will work on my work play balance, Greg had it down.

Thank you Greg. We will continue to ride on with you in our hearts.

This will be a tough week and we don't want to say good bye. We wish you peace.

Just because you paid to have it fixed does not make it a "Professionally Repaired".

All repairs are not equal, quality matters. Correct thread, proper stitch pitch, properly taped in and outsides, properly closed leading edge seam, these are the things that make for a quality repair.

Sure some repairs do the trick but ours won't make you cross your fingers.

The first 3 pics are locally done repairs, the last 2 pics are the work done at Comox Kite Repair.

There is a difference.
