A win-loss-tie split was in the cards for the Parkhurst Tripps Pirates over the last week in South Hastings Baseball League action.
The team played to its first ever 0-0 tie last Wednesday against the Read Free Flow Petroleum Young Guns, thanks in large part to the outstanding pitching of Logan Blower and Aaron Brennan.
The two hurlers earned co-player of the game honours for F&F Solutions.
The next night did not fare as well, as the Young Guns bounced back to win 9-4.
After the Pirates took a 4-2 lead in the top of the fifth inning, Read jumped ahead in the bottom half with five runs and took the lead to stay.
Kyle Gould scored two runs in the ballgame to win the Player of the Game award.
Finally, the Pirates took down the Tyendinaga Cardinals 11-2 this past Tuesday, with a five-run third inning blowing open a 0-0 ballgame.
After single runs in the fourth and fifth, the Pirates tacked on four more runs in the sixth to round out their scoring.
Blower reached base three times, scoring twice, with Jesse Burrill adding a couple of RBI hits and SHBL rookie Trevor Quinonez pitching 4 1/3
innings for the victory.
Derek Kring and Kyle Gould shut the door in relief.
Parkhrust’s next action is Sunday evening at 6:30 versus the Bain Excavating Rockies.
