Members come together to work in a supportive and social environment that gives us the opportunity to focus on individual activities of our own choosing. We draw and paint in watercolour and acrylic on-site and work in other mediums off-site. Membership is open to all visual artists who choose to pay the required annual dues and attend monthly meetings. Such individuals are considered active membe
rs. Members are asked to assist with events and tasks that the group occasionally undertakes. Work done by members is volunteer and we operate as a not for profit group i.e. annual dues reflect the expenses anticipated for the coming year’s room rental and activities. New members are always welcome. A business meeting is held on the second Tuesday of each month, commencing at 1:30 p.m. We have an elected president, secretary and treasurer. Terms of office are generally two years, with extended terms upon agreement of the group and the office holder(s). While there is no instruction at our sessions, individual members may sign up to provide a demonstration or lead the group in an activity on the last Tuesday of each month. Active members of Attic Painters are eligible to exhibit in the foyer of the Marigold Cultural Center. The exhibition changes every other month through the calendar year. Members are required to meet gallery hanging standards whenever work is exhibited there. As well, the work is normally expected to be recent and always to reflect well upon each artist. Active members can also participate in our lawn Show and Sale (traditionally held in front of the Colchester East Hants Regional Library) each June. New members are encouraged to take part in all exhibitions.
