Last night was one for the books at Truro BJJ. 🥋

I got to do something I’ve never done before — award the FIRST EVER black belt promotion in the history of this gym. To my brother Mike Robinson.

If you know Mike, you know what this represents. Years of showing up. Getting smashed. Getting better. Showing up again.
That’s the only way a black belt happens — there’s no shortcut, no fast track. Just time on the mat and refusing to quit. Proud doesn’t even cover it.

And the night wasn’t done. We had a surprise brown belt promotion for another incredible practitioner, Adrian Solarino — someone who’s put in the same relentless work and earned every stripe.

This is what Truro BJJ is about. Building people up. Watching them grow from white belt beginners into black belt leaders. Nights like this are why we do what we do.

Congrats Mike. Congrats to my guy Adrian Solarino. This is just the beginning.

Some situations are unavoidable!! Are you prepared for what the streets bring your way when that happens?

There are drug addicts all over the streets in Canada, they have no fear of jail and they have no recollection of reality. You can not get police involved until after an incident and even then the police can only do so much. The legal system lets the criminals out with minimum to no time. There are predators floating around Truro like it’s normal and we just get a msg in the news.
Unfortunately there isn’t much we can do but arm ourselves with the “tools” we need to fight back when something happens!
