Have you ever been underestimated at the gym? Today I witnessed something that changed how I'll view gym staff forever.
Our maintenance crew member was doing her regular cleaning rounds when a well-meaning gym bro tried to "protect" her from a loaded barbell. Without missing a beat, she casually performed a perfect 315lb single-arm row while continuing to vacuum with her other hand.
The look on his face was priceless, but it revealed something deeper: how quick we are to judge people based on their uniform or job title.
Many of our facility staff are former collegiate athletes who choose flexible work hours to support their training. They're often stronger and more experienced than the members trying to "help" them.
