So I've decided to get back at it. I'm looking to pick up a half a dozen clients or so. I think COVID has passed and it's time for me to get back at it. I mostly train people with their own equipment. At least until I can get the ball rolling on a home gym set up. If you or anyone you know is looking for a trainer in Toronto, I'm your guy. We can do home gym exercises even. It is very possible to do calisthenics and still build a good amount of muscle. I've been doing mostly calisthenics and I've managed to gain the weight I had lost during my psychosis back!

I'm hoping there won't be anymore lockdowns and as such I'm going to start personal training again. I loved doing it and it was such a rewarding hustle to be in. Looking to get some new clients. Looking into training people with condo gyms that are open at the moment. I have plans to find a place where I can set up my own little set up but for now it'll only be with people who have access to their own equipment and are permitted to let others come and help them with their body goals!

I’ll be starting up in person training again in the next couple of weeks. I think it’s safe to do so and I’ll take the proper precautions when training clients. There have been a few things that have stopped me from starting back up again but I’m looking forward to getting the ball going on it once more.

I’ll also be starting up my own training space in the next little while. It’ll be small but it’ll be my own little space. Hopefully, I’ll see some new face and some old faces soon!

Cheers!!

If you guys are looking for online training I do have a 12 week program that I custom make for your body type.

It comes with a nutritional guide and usually is done in 3 stages. I’ll add in 2 check-ins to see how you’re doing so I can change your program accordingly.

It’s administered entirely through an app. Feel free to send me a message and we can have a chat about your goals!

Hey guys my name is Marcel. I’m a Personal Trainer that trains within the downtown core of Toronto. I specialize mostly in strength training for aesthetics. I’ve been on my own personal fitness journey for over a decade and have gone through my own ups and downs with fitness. I’ve had many learning experiences from my past that, I feel, can be valuable to my clients. In terms of education, I have a bachelor of science in psychology and have also done a couple years of biochemistry so I have a rather heavy science background. My approach to diet and exercise comes from such a background. There is always something to be learned and I feel that I can learn something from every client and hopefully every client can learn a thing or two from my sessions. Proper technique and form are extremely important to me and exercise safety is key. I’ve worked with a diverse group of individuals from younger to more mature individuals and from fitter to more sedentary individuals. I’ve worked with postpartum women, retired individuals, obese individuals, individuals with sciatica, and etc. Whatever your goal, I can help you reach it!

I administer my workouts and diet plans through an app at no extra charge. The app allows you to keep track of your diet and exercise sessions and allows for greater accountability!

I do in-person training as well as online training each with different price points. If you would like to know more about each of those price points please feel free to check out my website for a breakdown of what comes with each of those packages. Click the link below!

Also if you are looking for in-person training and mention this ad you can get a free consult as well as the first 30 min session free!

The Importance of Sleep:
Sleep is such an integral part of your overall health that if neglected it affects so many aspects of your life. During sleep your pituitary gland (the master endocrine gland) releases several hormones into the body. One of these hormones are growth hormones so when some of my clients are trying to gain muscle I tell them to take naps often as napping will often help release these hormones into the body to help with the release of hormones for optimal muscle growth. Melatonin is also released during sleep, this is the hormone that makes you feel sleepy and builds up over the course of the night as you sleep. It’s kind of like an hour glass of your body’s sleep cycle. It’s depleted by sunlight. Oxytocin is also released during sleep. It has many functions and I’m not going to list them but they’re mostly for prosocial or socially positive behaviours, and child rearing behaviours. So if you’re feeling grumpy you may need some oxytocin in your life (from sleep). There are more hormones but I’ll touch on prolactin as the final one as it probably has the most diverse function with over 300 functions: f immune regulation to metabolism to lactation in women. So neglecting sleep will essentially neglect these hormones. It may not happen overnight but over time it will throw these hormones out of balance and you will feel the consequences of lack of sleep. So maybe tonight try and get some good sleep! Your body, mind, and soul will thank you!

Progress pic: pretty happy with my progress overall. It’ll always be something I’m working on and enjoy doing. I think my next goal is to gain a little bit more muscle as I’ve lost 7lbs or so from leaning out. It helps to have many mini goals to help you reach your goals. Have one big goal in mind then break it up into smaller parts. You can always adjust the mini goals to see if it’s not working.

Progress so far!

I've been working more on my aesthetics lately and less on functional strength. There is a big difference in the training needed for functional strength vs aesthetics. One is significantly more tiring because of the caloric deficit needed to do a proper cut. Even with a couple hundred calories under maintenance gets tiring over a couple weeks.

I've also been incorporating more cardio ab exercises like kettlebells into my routine. When done correctly kettlebells are killer core exercises!

On the business side, I think I want to expand more into the online market. I think online is the future of training and all you really need is a browser. Feel free to DM me for inquiries!

The Importance of Pain
I think characterizing pain is a very important thing to know how to do well. Because there is a difference between pain from weakness and or pain from strain. Again, they go hand in hand and are intricately tied to one another. When you experience strain such as when repetitive motions occur such as repeatedly climbing stairs every day for a job. It is different from experiencing pain from muscle weakness. One scenario the muscle lacks endurance and the other the muscle lacks strength. It is important to make this distinction because it will determine the type of training that needs to be done to alleviate the pain. And if you train incorrectly you may aggravate the condition even more.

I've said this before but the muscle needs a certain level of strength first before you can train it for endurance. So almost always strength training will help alleviate these pains. But I wouldnt jump right into it right away either, you need to ease your way into it and not shock your system into submission. That'll probably cause more problems in the long run. You need to rely on your body for feedback!

Water
Water is one of the most important substances on the planet. It is the the catalyst that set off chemical evolution into biological evolution.

And you're giving up a valuable tool to aid in your fitness journey of you dont drink enough of it. As all metabolism within the human body happens within an aqueous environment not having enough of it can actually slow metabolism. Imagine giving up 200 or so calories of metabolic fat burn just from not drinking enough water. And that is definitely a reality for some of you out there. Ever get a dehydration headache? If you're prone to headaches maybe you're not drinking enough water?

In any case stay hydrated! It does a lot more for you than you think!
