Fabulous Friendly Tournament, Saturday September 6, 2025

Our Moore Park Lawn Bowling Club (MPLBC), founded in 1925 and 100 years young this year, has an admirable tradition of hosting and participating in friendly tournaments with other lawn bowling clubs. Now, on Saturday September 6, 2025, our MPLBC is hosting a friendly tournament with guests from Lawrence Park Lawn Bowling Club (LPLBC) and WHLBC. We are expecting fourteen players from LPLBC and ten players from WHLBC. As hosting club, we expect a good turnout from our members, not only to play but to be gracious hosts for our guests.

Please arrive before 10:20 a.m. as the matches will begin at 10:30 a.m. It also will be appreciated greatly if our members can arrive earlier to help with setup and preparing to welcome our guests.

Thanks for an Excellent Fall Clean Up 🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁

Twelve members of the club met on Saturday, November 16th, 2024 and, working hard and harmoniously, had the green all spruced up and looking marvellous in under two hours. Nicely done!

The delicious coffee, hot chocolate and donuts on hand certainly helped.

Fall Clean Up 🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁

It’s now the middle of November and many if not most of the leaves have fallen. It definitely is time for the fall clean up. You are reminded most cordially that this will take place tomorrow, Saturday, November 16th, 2024. We will be meeting on the green at 1:00 p.m. If you are available we really would appreciate your help. If you can, bring rakes or any other leaf collection instruments. There will be lots of leaf bags. We also suggest you wear gloves. With many hands it will be light work and only take about an hour.

Coffee, hot chocolate and donuts will be on hand for sustenance. Hope to see many of you on the 16th!

Bowling Continues After Clean Up

There’s been some cold and rainy weather lately but we’re still seeing pleasant sunny days too.

With the latter in mind, there will be lawn bowling on any day when the weather is decent, based on our schedule.

A few years ago our last bowling day was December 4th! Let’s hope for something similar, maybe even later, this year!

This past Saturday September 21, 2024, the Wells Hill Lawn Bowling Club (WHLBC), reactivated for 2024 after a seven year break for green and clubhouse renovations as part of the overall renovation of the adjacent and integrated Toronto Public Library Wychwood Branch, hosted a friendly tournament with our Moore Park Lawn Bowling Club (MPLBC). We hope that this is the first of many ‘friendlies’ for the reactivated WHLBC and MPLBC.

What a fantastic afternoon we had!

We thank WHLBC for their enthusiastic welcome and thoughtful and gracious hospitality. Courtesy of WHLBC, the refreshments were excellent and the prizes were most generous and very well appreciated.

Seen here celebrating are the 2024 Mixed Doubles Runners Up, Etsumi Sakaguchi and Jim Hunter, and the 2024 Mixed Doubles Champions, Bill Davis and Carol Lawrence. Congratulations! Many thanks to the tournament organizers and participants!

We're Invited: Friendly Tournament at Our Neighbouring Wells Hill Lawn Bowling Club, Saturday September 21, 2024 at 2:00 P.M.

September 9, 2024

Hello Esteemed Moore Park Lawn Bowling Club Fellow Members,

Jonathan Spencer, President of our neighbouring Wells Hill Lawn Bowling Club (WHLBC), and I were fortunate one day, not too long ago, to meet at WHLBC and, in the course of our conversation, we agreed that it would be great for the members of both of our clubs to bowl togeher from time to time.

Thus, thanks to Jonathan, our neighbouring Wells Hill Lawn Bowling Club (WHLBC), cordially invites us members of the Moore Park Lawn Bowling Club for a friendly tournament on Saturday September 21, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at WHLBC.

There won’t be major trophies or cash, but there may be wine and cheese and prizes!

Wells Hill Lawn Bowling Club (WHLBC) is located at 46 Melgund Road, just beside the Wychwood Library, near St. Clair West subway station.

This invitation also has been posted on our FaceBook page at https://www.facebook.com/MooreParkLBC

Jonathan and I hope that as many of us as possible will participate. I’d appreciate your letting me know whether you will be attending: by Monday September 16, 2024 would be very helpful. Thank You.

Bill Davis was telling me that at one time we regularly bowled with neighbouring clubs, including Wells Hill Lawn Bowling Club (WHLBC), and so this friendly tournament honours and restores a great tradition!

Thank you very much for your kind and responsive attention to this message and the invitation it contains.

All the best,

Henry
