Taekwondo Canada is affiliated with the World Taekwondo Federation, the official international sports federation under the International Olympic Committee. 3 days of high-intensity preparation in Vancouver (Aug 21–23) for the upcoming World Championships!

Working alongside Head coach Master Ri seong Kang and coach Master Jo to prepare our national athletes for the world stage was an absolute privilege. Every single athlete pushed their limits through technical refinements, mental conditioning, and elite ex*****on.

A special thank you to BC President Master Tony Kook for his tremendous support, leadership, and hospitality throughout this high-performance camp. Huge appreciation as well to the personal coaches and families who make this journey possible.

A special recognition also goes to Jake Kang and Kai-Hsin Chang, who represented KBBMA with determination and gave their best effort throughout the competition. While they did not reach the podium this time, their hard work, resilience, and sportsmanship make us just as proud. Every competition is a valuable step toward future success.

I am incredibly proud of our HP (High Performance) athletes who performed exceptionally well at yesterday’s OTA Tournament. They stepped onto the mats with incredible focus and demonstrated the true fruits of their relentless training and discipline.

This success would not have been possible without our amazing coach Master Ha and parents. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your unwavering support, coordination, and for being the loudest cheerleaders for our team.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to the Ontario Taekwondo Association (OTA) for their immense effort and leadership in hosting such a successful event. Special thanks to the referees, volunteers, sponsors Captain sport and all participating athletes for their hard work in creating a safe, fair, and inspiring environment for everyone.

This tournament was a fantastic stepping stone for our team's growth. We are already excited for the next challenge and look forward to reaching even greater heights together!

Our Head Master Ri Seong Kang received ‘Coach of the Year’ at the Toronto Sport Hall of Honour!

Dear KBBMA Families,

We have some incredible and historic news to share with our KBBMA community!

On June 1st, our Head Master, Master Ri Seong Kang, received the ‘Coach of the Year’ award at the Toronto Sport Hall of Honour.

As many of you know, he is not only the Head Master of our school but also the Head Coach of the Canadian National Poomsae Team and Ontario Taekwondo Poomsae Team.

To give you an idea of how big this award is, it usually goes to the biggest names in Canadian sports—like the championship leaders of the Toronto Raptors (NBA), legends from the Toronto Blue Jays (MLB), and Canada’s Olympic medalists.

Among many amazing nominees, Master Kang received the award! Most importantly, this is the first time in history that a Taekwondo leader has ever received this honor. This means Canada’s mainstream sports world has officially recognized the value of Taekwondo and Master Kang’s leadership.

Even after winning this major award, He mentioned that this award does not belong to him, but to our elite team athletes and KBBMA students who train hard every day, and to our wonderful parents and instructors who always support the school.

We are so proud that our students are learning from a world-class leader who cares so much about building both strong skills and great character.
