This sponsored feature animation was created for CBC Sport's Tokyo 2020 Olympic coverage. The Quest went through many iterations before completion, with the Covid pandemic necessitating the loss of a live shoot.

Here's a supercut of elements I created for Tokyo Today, CBC's daytime coverage of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This reflects the modern, energetic side of Tokyo. As much of the CBC graphics package used origami as a recurring texture, I asked what if we had origami made from concrete? And what if we had Mt. Fuji made from neon tubes?

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics launches today, and I'll take the opportunity to share some of the work I've done for the CBC over the last 20 months. Sugoi Tokyo is a sponsored feature showcasing different facets of Japanese culture. Sugoi translates as Wow! The CBC gave me free rein to design this, and originally, it had a bright 'daytime' look. After it was completed, Asahi Brewery came on as the sponsor. As all the adjoining Asahi creative had a night time look and feel, I was asked to reflect this in the animation, as well as replacing the ramen bowl with the Asahi headquarters & beerhall.
