This past weekend, our team stepped onto one of the biggest stages in Ontario amateur Muay Thai: the Provincial Championships.
We brought three athletes and came home with a gold medal, a silver medal, and something even more important, a clear demonstration of hard work, resilience, and trust in the process.
Owen Chan
Owen faced a strong and powerful opponent. After a difficult first round, he potentially suffered a broken nose and had to be examined by the ringside doctor.
He refused to quit, continued making adjustments, and fought through adversity with tremendous heart. We couldn’t be more impressed with his toughness, composure, and overall improvement.
Hayley Kingston
Less than a month ago, Hayley stepped into the ring for the first time.
This weekend, she fought twice at Provincials, earning a spot in the finals and competing in just her third fight ever. She faced a more experienced opponent while competing above the weight class we expect her to fight in moving forward.
Hayley showed incredible courage and determination, leaving everything she had in the ring. A Provincial silver medal is an outstanding achievement, but we’re even prouder of the composure she displayed throughout the tournament.
Huy Dang Nguyen
After two difficult losses, Huy took the feedback from his coaches and got to work.
Over the last three weeks, he made major changes to his preparation, strategy, and ex*****on. This weekend, that work paid off.
He trusted his corner, followed the game plan, made the right adjustments, and fought his heart out from start to finish.
As always, we are back to the grind. We will make the adjustments and come back stronger than before.
Congratulations to our team and our coaches on a hell of a performance this weekend!
