If your glutes don't feel like a springboard, you're losing substantial efficiency from your Muay Thai technique
The glute maximus is the largest muscle by volume in the human body. Therefore, it has the highest potential to generate force and stability. You NEED to feel your glutes support every punch, kick, knee, and elbow you throw. If you aren't, odds are you're muscling your strikes instead.
This is a simple drill to feel your glutes fire before any strike is ever thrown. Practice this pattern and feel both glutes support your stance. From there, practice your strikes with the goal of passing through this 'gate' of feeling your glute support. You'll notice you can hit harder and faster with better balance and less effort through your shoulders and arms.
At Montrait Muay Thai, we don’t throw beginners into class and expect them to figure it out. We teach the details from the ground up so every student understands not only what to do, but why it works.
🥊 Build your foundation before trying to build speed and power.
